boso ABI-system 100 Early detection of PAOD fast, precise, without Doppler Premium quality for doctors and hospitals
Product of tradition Premium quality for doctors and hospitals For decades, boso has been synonymous with precision in blood-pressure measurement and has succeeded, time and time again, in setting new standards. The boso ABI-system 100 a world first builds on this story of success with another milestone in health screening. With it, boso provides a completely new method for measuring the ABI, helping to diagnose the dangerous and very common disease PAOD quickly and easily. A simple routine check with the boso ABI-system 100 can save lives. The ABI is the most meaningful predictor to forecast cardiac infarct, apoplexy and death. 77 % of doctors use boso sphygmomanometers. boso ABI-system 100 A milestone in health screening Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) is often a harbinger of cardiovascular events with serious consequences. Even in high-risk groups such as smokers, diabetics and the elderly, PAOD is often diagnosed too late. A simple routine check with the boso ABI-system 100 comes to the rescue. The ankle-brachial index (ABI) allows PAOD to be identified with a high degree of precision at an early stage. The importance of this figure is becoming more and more apparent and it is an increasingly common subject for discussion in the specialist media. For example, the German Hypertension Society (Deutsche Hochdruckliga) and the German Vascular Diseases Society (Deutsche Gefäßliga) are placing growing importance on the ABI. Until now, the ABI has only been checked in cases of suspected disease not least because of the expense of employing Doppler ultrasonography in the test. The boso ABI-system 100 calculates this crucial value quickly, precisely and reliably without Doppler. Its ease of operation gives it much broader application. This makes early detection possible even if the patient is not yet experiencing any symptoms, opening the way to combating the disease while it is still in the early stages and saving lives. No thorough health check should be considered complete without a calculation of the ABI. The new boso ABI-system 100 now makes this easy. clinically validated For details see the clinical validation http://www.smw.ch/docs/pdfcontent/smw-12636.pdf Prof. Dr. med. Curt Diehm: The innovative method used by the boso ABI-system 100 creates broad applications for ABI determination in medical practice because the test can be carried out in a few minutes without any special preparations. Doctor and patient alike benefit from this service spectrum, which makes possible accurate diagnosis and early, targeted treatment. Prof. Dr. med. boso ABI-system 100 Fast, precise, delegable and cost-effective The boso ABI-system 100 allows blood pressure to be measured simultaneously on all four limbs. This simultaneous measurement produces a very precise and reliable calculation of the ankle-brachial index. The disadvantage of the existing method, using ultrasound Doppler, was always that measurements had to be taken consecutively, so could be distorted by blood-pressure fluctuations. The boso ABI-system 100 measures oscillometrically without a Doppler probe or other sensor. The big advantage of this method of measurement is that the cuffs are very easy to position. Variations in individual measuring time are minimised by the intelligent inflation system and regulation of the deflation rate. The existing method using a Doppler probe takes a great deal of skill and experience, which is why, in most cases, it can be carried out only by the doctor. The advantage of the boso ABI-system 100 is that it is very easy to operate, making it possible to carry out the test in a few minutes without any special preparation time. Moreover, the boso ABI-system 100 can also be used independently by the doctor s assistant after just a small amount of training. Once the measurements have been taken, the figures are transferred via a USB interface to a PC, where the application software calculates the ABI automatically. Furthermore, the boso ABI software has a database that offers patient management, graphic representation of the measured values and a GDT interface allowing export to the practice s data-processing system.
boso ABI software Automatic calculation of many important pieces of data Side-to-side difference (subclavian artery stenosis) Blood pressure Oscillation profile Once measured, the figures calculated are assigned automatically to the chosen patient. As well as being given the ABI calculated, the doctor is also provided with other important figures for assessing the patient s state of health, e.g. individual blood-pressure readings at the arms and legs, as well as left-right pressure differences (subclavian artery stenosis). In addition, the instrument is able to indicate the possible presence of arrhythmia. Furthermore, the quick and easy overview of the patient s health status is enhanced by the highlighting in colour of all critical values.
