Systematic wound management and compression. We have always been committed to the pursuit of innovation and the development of patient-oriented problem solutions. L&R sees itself not just as a manufacturer of medical devices, but also as a service partner and solution provider. In this capacity, L&R offers successful product combinations and helpful practical tips to meet the challenges posed by specific wound situations. Our products are tailored to the needs of those affected and their wound situation and enable practitioners to manage even chronic wounds. In a nutshell: Systematic wound management and compression from L&R. Knowledge is the best therapy. An in-depth dialogue with users and customers as well as our own research help us to develop and enhance patient- and user-oriented products and solutions. 4

The 3 steps in wound therapy: our recommendation for successful wound management 2 Wound management 3 Debridement Compression. Debridement Debridement is a core element of wound management. 2. Wound management The treatment of wound situations demands a sensitive and carefully coordinated procedure. 3. Compression Proper treatment of the underlying issue of venous ulcers. Achieve the necessary pressure for treatment with short stretch bandages. 5

Wound healing a three-phased process. Physiological wound healing is a dynamic process which comprises the same complex pattern for all wounds. A distinction is made between three phases which flow into each other and which are mutually dependent.. Exudation phase The exudation or cleansing phase commences immediately after the injury. From a clinical perspective, there is a local inflammation which is followed by considerable exudation. During this phase, blood coagulation and wound cleansing occur and the wound is defended from infections. As a result of phagocytosis, destroyed tissue and germs are engulfed. Moist wound management supports and aids endogenous wound cleansing to create cleaner wound conditions. If debris and necroses are present, these are moistened and removed. The dressing absorbs exudate, tissue debris and germs. The ideal dressing keeps the wound moist and protects it from infections the perfect prerequisites for rapid and effective healing. The frequency with which the moist dressing needs to be changed depends on the condition of the wound and the degree of exudate. It may be necessary to change the dressing several times a day. If necessary, necroses and debris are also removed. EXUDATION Days 0 2 3 4 5 6 7 6

2. Granulation phase New cells form during the granulation or proliferation phase. Granulation tissue forms to fill the wound area. More and more fibroblasts migrate to the wound and collagen synthesis begins. Capillaries sprout in the wound bed and, at the same time, exudation decreases. The clinical findings show red-coloured tissue with a good supply of blood. During the granulation phase, the moist dressing protects the wound from drying out and also effectively absorbs the excess exudate. It offers protection against infections and mechanical influences in order to protect the new tissue. In this phase, it is also the best possible wound management approach to ensure an ideal moist wound environment. The condition of the wound determines how frequently the dressing must be changed. Based on experience, the intervals at which the dressing is changed become longer over the course of time. A major benefit: The moist wound dressing guarantees atraumatic dressing changes; this means less pain for patients and improved wound healing. 3. Epithelialisation phase In the epithelialisation or regeneration phase there is continued further differentiation between the tissue and epithelialisation. The wound edges get closer and the epithelial tissue growing in from the edges gradually covers the wound. With wound contraction and scarring, wound healing is finally complete. In this phase, moist wound management promotes the final phases of healing and the formation of new epithelial tissue. The dressing ensures just the right level of moisture, protects against harmful influences and allows the wound to rest. The frequency with which the moist dressing needs to be changed depends on the condition of the wound. Since the severity of exudation decreases over time, the dressing can stay on the wound for up to seven days which is a major benefit for patients and users alike. 2 GRANULATION 3 EPITHELIALISATION 8 9 0 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 20 2 7

Debridement The basis for successful wound healing. Effective and atraumatic debridement is essential to successful wound healing. As such, debridement is an indispensable first step for targeted wound management. Moreover, a clean wound bed is a prerequisite for enabling many modern products to work effectively. Debridement is therefore a cornerstone of wound care. The products Debrisoft and Debrisoft Lolly ensure rapid, simple and virtually pain-free debridement. They create a clean wound bed whilst preserving intact tissue to result in optimal wound healing. In terms of subsequent treatment steps, in addition to debridement, wound anamnesis and diagnosis are also essential for choosing the right products. Here a distinction is made between non-infected wounds, infected wounds and wounds at risk of infection. For the fields of application given, wounds with light to moderate exudation and wounds with heavy exudation are also differentiated. The broad range from L&R offers the ideal solution for every indication for subsequent wound management. Debridement with Debrisoft + Debrisoft Lolly monofilament polyester fibres approx. 8 million fibres over an area of 0 x 0 cm specially shaped fibre tips release the debris and exudate from the wound as well as skin flakes and keratosis from the surrounding skin the thick fibre pile reliably absorbs debris, exudate and skin flakes Give the go-ahead for wound healing with debridement! 8

Suprasorb C* Collagen wound dressing. Supports wound healing What makes Suprasorb C so unique The porous structure with highly pronounced capillary activity enables it to absorb fluid. This physical property with the continuous absorption of exudate results in the intake of cell debris (such as necrotic tissue and fibrinous coating) as well as inflammation inducing proteases and cytokines. Thereby the formation of granulation tissue is supported and accelerated. During the granulation stage and at the beginning of the epithelisation stage, the continuous supply of the defect with high grade collagen supports the new formation of the body s own collagen fibrils and fibres. The growth factors which support wound healing are protected. The repair of the wound bed supports the necessary proliferation and the migration of epidermal cells. This assists wound healing. quick absorption of exudate and gel formation; factors which inhibit wound healing are bound into the dressing 2 added collagen activates wound healing and protects growth factors 2 Product composition Suprasorb C consists of collagen of bovine origin. Suprasorb C is indicated in particular if, following treatment using other wound dressings, stagnating wound conditions are evident. 22 * Statements on performance are based for the most part on non-clinical studies.

Compression Because the right pressure matters. Compression therapy is part of everyday life in medicine and nursing and forms the basis for the successful treatment of venous leg disorders, in particular venous leg ulcers. The principle is simple: Compression applies pressure to the blood vessels and surrounding tissue. This encourages the venous blood flow and drainage of lymphatic fluids. The compression dressing constricts the dilated veins to improve the functionality of the venous valves and, in part, enable them to close again. Venous stasis is eliminated and new stasis is prevented. Overall, the compression therapy relieves pain and other complaints in the leg. The right application technique and selection of the most suitable material are key factors behind the success of treatment. The Rosidal K short stretch bandages are ideal for combining a low resting pressure and a high working pressure. In addition, the dressings have a massaging effect when the muscles are active which further aids the success of treatment. With the short stretch compression system Rosidal sys and the two-component compression system Rosidal TCS, L&R offers two, harmonised and ready-to-use systems which make compression treatments efficient and simple for users and patients alike. Compression therapy generally makes use of compression bandages, ready-for-use dressings or stockings. In general, these systems are distinguished by the different levels of resting and working pressure exerted by the varying elasticity of the source materials. As a specialist in compression therapy, L&R has a wide range of compression therapy products offering combinable components for every application. L&R offers reliable treatment solutions to satisfy all the demands of compression therapy with short stretch bandages. 48

Rosidal K When strong compression is required. A strong hold you can rely on Rosidal K is the solution from L&R for phlebologic treatment for strong compression. The outstanding product quality from Rosidal K has been in use for the last 55 years. Advantages strong compression lengthwise elastic (approx. 90%) comfortable to wear thanks to the breathable material particularly kind to the skin with 00% natural cotton the non-slip structured texture means the turns of the bandage adhere firmly to each other textile elastic due to twined warp threads The short stretch Rosidal K offers users the necessary support for successful compression treatment and that for the past 55 years. 50

Three good reasons for Rosidal K 55 years of experience and expertise in compression therapy are reflected in the outstanding product quality of Rosidal K 2 Rosidal K stands for systematic compression through the ideal addition of combinable components such as tg grip, Rosidal soft and Rosidal SC 3 Can be washed up to 50 times at 95 C as such Rosidal K offers exceptional efficiency and durability 5

Rosidal sys Short stretch compression system. Systematic compression Assembling individual components is time-consuming and reduces efficiency. This is why the Rosidal sys compression system with its durable, high-quality components designed to work together effectively makes good sense. The handy system, packaged as a set, contains all the medical components needed for good compression therapy. Advantages effective and cost-effective since the padding and compression bandages can be reused (Rosidal soft and Rosidal K) ready-to-use and packaged in a handy set particularly skin-friendly components in the acute phase, the compression bandage can remain on the leg for up to seven days (depending on the state of the wound) Rosidal sys enables effective treatment of venous leg ulcers. 52

Three good reasons for Rosidal sys Particularly effective and cost-effective for long-term treatments 2 Systematic solution for treatment safety 3 Rapid drainage of the affected limb given the low flexibility (stiffness) of the bandage 53

Rosidal TCS Two-component compression system. Two components, simple to use This two-component compression system has been specifically designed to treat venous leg ulcers and its comorbidities as well as chronic oedema. It combines two components into something special: The innovative padded compression bandage Rosidal SC with integrated textile skin protection together with the cohesive short stretch compression bandage Rosidal CC forms a safe and reliable system. Advantages of Rosidal TCS Safe-Loc system: Incredibly simple without pressure indicators safe application at full stretch padded compression bandage Rosidal SC with integrated skin protection for enhanced wearing comfort cohesive compression bandage Rosidal CC adheres to itself and reduces the risk of slipping because of its high degree of static stiffness thin and supple fits easily into shoes now also in a large pack* The low resting pressure is a clear advantage for ensuring compliance, particularly at night time. 54 * Currently not available for all markets/via all sales channels.

Three good reasons for Rosidal TCS The Safe-Loc system allows both components to be applied at full stretch 2 Rosidal TCS is free from natural rubber latex and is therefore a great alternative for people who are hypersensitive to latex 3 Ready-to-use in a handy set, for single-use only 55
