What we did to form our priorities We considered the assets of the Island while reviewing profiles and statistics which assisted in identifying key themes, e.g. transport, housing, economy and communications.
We conducted our own Place Standards Workshop to engage with local residents
We considered the Health and Social Care Partnership priority needs 1. Transport 2. Reduce Social Isolation 3. Improve Support Complex Care Needs We will consider the findings of the Arran Economic Group 1. Island Roads 2. Animal nuisance or littering 3. Pressures from Island Tourism
What we found Place Standards Rapid Appraisal Areas of Family Resilience Health & Social Care Partnership Housing and community Work and Local Economy Moving around Public transport Traffic and parking Falling population/decline in number of 0-15yrs Residents are physically remote from services Arran has a higher older age profile than NA mainland High dependency ratio old to young Home ownership difficult for first time buyers Develop Transport Solutions that help local people in accessing support Reduce Social Isolation Improve support to those with complex care needs

We considered our Council s Priorities Priority 1 Growing our economy, increasing employment and regenerating Towns Priority 2 Working together to develop stronger communities Priority 4 Helping all of our people to stay safe, healthy and active Priority 5 Protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations
How we responded to the information gathered We will undertake a community engagement exercise to assist in establishing short, medium and long term actions to deliver the local priorities

What we did to form our priorities We looked at the assets of the local communities in the Garnock Valley, statistics and profiles that helped us to identify where there was a themed need, e.g. employment, opportunities for young people, health, poor public transport connectivity, maximising facilities and population trends

We asked the Health and Social Care Partnership what they identified as their priority needs 1. Engage with young people to help improve their health and wellbeing 2. Improve low level mental health and wellbeing 3. Reduce social isolation across all age groups 4. Reduce the impact of musculoskeletal disorders We considered the Go Garnock Charrette priorities 1. Access to public transport 2. Enabling Community Participation and Empowerment 3. Access to employment We will consider the Lochshore Masterplan Consultation

What we did to form our priorities We are in the middle of some community engagement to find out what actions people would like to see
How we are responding to the information gathered We co-opted a younger member to join us and will be looking for more! We are out and about in regular community events, like the Picnic in the Park which attracted around 4000 people to gather feedback We will be dropping in to Ayrshire College and Kilwinning Academy Then we ll come together to bring the actions into a manageable plan
What are we doing next? Working on delivering some quick-win actions For example: the public asked for more things to do and we re organising a community group event at the end of September Working with Roads, the police, Streetscene and the Employability and Skills team on the longer term actions Gathering information on local learning opportunities for the Strategic Community Learning and Development Action Plan Looking to co-opt more young people

What we did to form our priorities We looked at lots of Statistics and profiles that helped identify where there was a themed need e.g. Tourism and the Economy, Job creation, training and Learning, Health improvement, Community safety, Transport, a Local Communications network We Conducted our own Place Standards Exercise to find out what local people felt about the area We asked the Health and Social Care Partnership what they had identified as their priority needs
What we found Place Standards Rapid Appraisal Work and the Local Economy Influence and sense of control Streets and spaces Facilities and amenities Housing and community Areas of Family Resilience Above average unemployment Rising levels of deprivation Lower Household incomes Lower Life expectancy Rising health deprivation 1:4 has an additional support need in Stevenston Ardeer H&SC Ensure appropriate care at home options for older people Improve mental health and well being of young men, including addressing issues of social isolation
We formed our Local Priorities Our Local Priorities The Three Towns Locality Partnership priorities will be: 1.Economy making the area more attractive to employers to locate and get people job ready 2.Regeneration Improve derelict industrial sites, Town centres and other land assets e.g Ardeer Peninsula 3.Communication Build upon the successful communication strategy established to deliver the AtoB Fery Campaign and use it to improve Community engagement and participation going forward
How we responded to the information gathered We undertook an additional Community Engagement using funding from Scottish Government for a Charrette process (findings due September when we can review and respond) We conducted some community engagement and spoke to local people (Chit Chat format, spoke to local community groups and organisations) We met as a Locality partnership to identify Short medium and Longer term priorities that we might address e.g. Improve the flow of communication from the Locality Planning Partnership to communities and engage with them in delivering actions
We considered our Councils priorities Priority 1 Growing our economy, increasing employment and regenerating Towns ( Saved the Ferry, gained new investment in the port). Priority 2 Working together to develop stronger communities ( Develop the work of our Community groups and associations, build community capacity and learning, Ardeer Community Association working with families, Whitlees developing a training kitchen to help people find work in the service sector) Priority 5 Protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations ( Communities working on dune protection at Stevenston, improving the Allotments at Ardrossan)
