Luke Hodge Some of Luke s favourites: with Lite n Easy Chicken Satay Hawthorn Hawks captain and AFL legend Luke Hodge shares his reasons for using Lite n Easy. Steak & Mushroom Sauce I first started using Lite n Easy in 2009. I think I was about 93 kilos, which was a few kilos heavier than what I should have been playing football. I m now a comfortable 88 kilos thanks to Lite n Easy and I keep using it just to maintain my weight. It s because it s flexible and just fits in with my program. I eat Lite n Easy dinners once or twice during the week and then the day before a game because I feel lighter and more energetic the next day. I guess in my profession you re always busy. So whether you re training or you ve got functions or you re just playing with the kids, which is full on most of the time, it s nice when you know there s a convenient, healthy option in the freezer. When you re younger you can get away with eating the incorrect foods. Once your body ages a little though, you need to make sure you re doing everything you possibly can to be ready to perform. So watching my diet and making sure I ve got something ready when I need it that s not only healthy, but convenient is very important. That s why I still use Lite n Easy. You can train as much as you want, but if you re not filling your body with the right foods and making sure you re at the correct weight to perform, you re not going to get the best out of yourself - and in this day and age, if you re off just a little bit in football it s going to cost you. Meet our Jo lost 24 kilos Zoe loses 15 kilos in 16 weeks and gets a new outlook on life For years my weight had gone up and down as I yo-yoed my way through every diet imaginable. I had some success at times but it never lasted. Working 10-11 hours a day, I was really time poor and found planning and preparing a healthy meal plan too difficult. It took a great deal of time and effort for very little result. So I kept giving up and putting on more weight. I had tried Lite n Easy some years ago and decided to give it another go. Kylie lost 16 kilos in 14 weeks When I returned to work after having my two children, I found Lite n Easy s pre-prepared meals to be really convenient. And to top it off I lost 16 kilos and I ve kept the weight off for over 12 months. I weigh less now than I did in my early 20s! Then I ran the full Melbourne Marathon (42.2km)! The change in me has inspired many of my friends to lose weight and get fit to run with me in this year s event. Forcing yourself to brave the cold for exercise can be hard, but that doesn t mean you can t lose weight and or maintain your weight in winter. Recent research has proven that when it comes to weight loss success, what you eat is far more important than what you do (in terms of exercise). This isn t an excuse to put the runners away til summer though - a moderate amount of activity is always required in order to improve your health. If it s too cold to exercise outside, why not take it indoors, or make plans to work out in the middle of the day when it s not so chilly? But when it comes to making sure you re getting the most important component of weight loss and weight maintenance right, i.e. what you eat, you can rely on Lite n Easy s chefs and dietitians to do all the hard work for you. And because everything is done for you, you can enjoy more time to do as much (or as little) exercise as you like!
