STEP 1: Chest Sensor (CS) 1A. Snap black clips under the breasts. The tube can be worn under or over a thin night shirt. 1C. Connect CS to the hole on the top of the device. 1B. Push black button and pull clear tubing to adjust. STEP 2: Finger Sensor (FS) 2A. Take off all dark nail polish before connecting sensor to pointing finger. If the FS is too tight or loose, you can wear it on any finger but not on your thumb. 2B. Connect sensor to the port on the top of the device. 4
STEP 3: Breath Sensor (BS) 3A. Place the BS under your nose (as pictured) with the two round humps under your nose. The BS is in place correctly when the single large hole is on the right side of your face. Tighten the slide ring upwards under your chin. To keep the BS in place, use the tape in the box. STEP 4: Turning on Unit 3B. Connect sensor to the port on the bottom of the device. 4A. Press the ON/OFF button hard for 2 seconds and then let go. You will see flashing lights until each sensor is put correctly in place. When all lights are GREEN, you are ready. The device will say System is now recording. If there is a problem, the voice alert will say check sensor, and one or more lights on the device will flash yellow, telling you which one is the problem. You may go to sleep once the device is connected to your arm. System is now recording. 5
STEP 5: Sending Test Data & Charging the Unit The morning AFTER testing, follow these steps in this exact order: 1. Undo all wires from the device. 2. Plug charger into wall outlet, then connect charger to device. 3. Device will say Now Charging. If not, push the on/off button hard for 2 seconds and let go. 4. Leave the device in this charging position for 30 minutes. During this time your data will be sent to us. The AccuSom will start charging the battery whenever the power cord is connected. While charging, the orange light above the ON/OFF switch will turn on. Once charging is done, the orange light will turn off. All other lights will be off when charging. STE STEP 6: Shipping Steps 1. Place the AccuSom and all sensors and completed forms back in the box. 2. Place the return label on the box. 3. Call NovaSom or UPS to schedule a pick up. 6
What to do if You need to get out of bed? Leave everything connected and the AccuSom on your arm. You can move around and return to bed. The voice alert says Check Chest Sensor? Move and tighten the Chest Sensor. It should be placed just below the breasts. The voice alert will say Chest Sensor OK and the Chest Sensor light will turn green. This may take about 30 seconds. If the light is still not green, squeeze the Chest Sensor Belt tubing between two fingers. If the light still does not turn green, call us. The voice alert says Check Breath Sensor? Move the Breath Sensor so that it is resting just above your upper lip and is centered below your nose. Make sure the side with the five small holes is facing your mouth. The voice alert will say Breath Sensor OK and the Breath Sensor light will turn green. This may take about 30 seconds. If the light still does not turn green, call us. The voice alert says Check Finger Sensor? Check to make sure the Finger Sensor is correctly in place on the fingertip and that the cable is joined to the device and that you have completely removed any dark nail polish. Once the Finger Sensor has been correctly moved, the Finger Sensor light will turn green, and the voice alert will say Finger Sensor OK. This may take about 30 seconds. If the light still does not turn green, call us. The Power Light is not lit? Press ON/OFF button hard for 2 seconds and let go to turn device ON. If the light still does not turn green, the battery may be too low. Connect device to charger and power ON device. If light still does not turn green, call us. Help Line: 1-877-753-3776 7
