Migraine Insight is an information and advisory day that includes talks from leading healthcare professionals, helping you to understand and manage your migraine better. You will get information on migraine diagnosis, treatment, prevention and emerging therapies that will help you better cope with your migraine attacks today and in the future. The final session will involve an opportunity to share your experiences of migraine, discuss treatments with and direct related questions to the healthcare professionals you have heard speak. We kindly ask that any questions that arise during the earlier presentations are left until this part of the event. If you have a specific question that needs answering you can send it to us in advance, by adding it to the booking form or by emailing us on info@migraine.org.uk and we will try our best to get it answered for you. Speakers Dr Mohamed Hassan Dr Andrew Dowson Dr Peter Brooks Dr Mohamed Hassan is a Consultant Physician at the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil. He qualified in Egypt where he obtained his masters in medicine and MD. He was there appointed as a Consultant Physician in emergency medicine. He then came to the UK in 1995 and obtained Royal College of Physicians accreditation in general medicine. He was appointed as a consultant acute physician in Prince Charles Hospital in 2003. His special interests are headache, Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE). He runs regular headache clinics and does Botox injections for chronic migraine. Dr Andrew Dowson is the Director of the NHS King s Headache Service at King s College Hospital, London. He qualified in medicine in 1984 and worked as a GP for several years before becoming a specialist in headache. He is Chairman of Migraine in Primary Care Advisors, a charity which promotes headache management in primary care, and of international organisation Headache Care for Practising Clinicians a group of similar organisations from around the world. Dr Dowson is also Chairman of Migraine Action s Medical Advisory Board. Dr Peter Brooks is a GP with a special interest in headache at the Eglwysbach Medical Practice, Pontypridd. He trained at the St Mary s Hospital Medical School, University of London, gaining his B.Sc (Hons) in 1980 and MB BS in 1983. He has been a principal in general practice since 1991, and is the senior partner at Eglwysbach Medical Practice. In 1999, he established a dedicated headache clinic at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, together with the late Dr Iain McQueen, Consultant Neurologist.

Travel Map and directions Travel by Car. From East: Exit junction 29 of M4, onto the A48 following signs for CITY CENTRE. Turn onto A470 heading into city centre. When in the city, Cardiff Castle will be on your right. The hotel is on the left after the castle. From West: Exit Junction 33 of M4, onto B4232. Take 2nd exit sign posted Cardiff City Stadium and head to CITY CENTRE. You will pass Cardiff City Stadium on your right, through traffic lights and under rail bridge. At next traffic light junction turn right into Wellington Street, which becomes Cowbridge Road and then Castle Street. Hotel on right as you cross the bridge. From North and Mid Wales: Take A 470 following signs for CARDIFF and then CITY CENTRE. When in the centre the city Cardiff Castle will be on your right. The hotel is on the left after the castle. Travel by Bus. The Cardiff Bridge stops are right outside, serving routes 13, 15, 17, 18, 25, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 96, 96A, 96S, 122, 124, 138, 320 & M4. Travel by Rail. The nearest train stations are Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen Street and Cathays, each within 10-15 mins walking distance from the venue.
