About TOMS & TOMS Campus Programs The TOMS Story In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Five years later, TOMS realized this movement could serve other basic needs and launched TOMS Eyewear. With every pair purchased, TOMS will help give sight to a person in need. One for One. As more everyday choices have the power to impact the lives of those around the world, the TOMS movement will continue to grow and evolve. Giving Shoes: During its first year in business, TOMS sold 10,000 pairs of shoes. Blake returned to Argentina that same year with family and friends and gave back to the children who had first inspired him. Since then, TOMS has given millions of pairs of new shoes to children in need through our Giving Partners. TOMS currently gives shoes in over 45 countries. Sight: In July 2011, TOMS began working with the Seva Foundation to help give prescription glasses, medical treatment and sight-saving surgery in Nepal, Cambodia and Tibet. In March 2012 TOMS expanded our sight giving to include India, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Unites States, Bangledesh and Pakistan. Each TOMS Eyewear purchase not only helps save or restore a person s sight; it also supports sustainable community-based eye care programs, the creation of professional jobs (often for young women), and helps provide basic eye care training to local health volunteers and teachers. TOMS-supported services often reach remote communities that do not have access to eye care. 2

videos which range in length from 1 minute 20 minutes. Show how TOMS gives shoes and is helping to restore sight around the world to your Dance Marathon supporters. We know these are like-minded individuals who truly care about helping others in need. Additionally, you will find a selection of videos showing TOMS programs and initiatives that you and your school can get involved with. If you have capability to project videos at your Dance Marathon event, we encourage you to use our DVD to share the TOMS story with your attendees. If you need more copies of the DVD, please let us know and we d be happy to send some more your way. Also found on the TOMS Campus Programs DVD is the Start Something That Matters video. This 20-minute film features TOMS Founder and Chief Shoe Giver, Blake Mycoskie, along with other entrepreneurs who have inspired him along his journey. Style Your Sole A Style Your Sole party is a fun and simple way to make a difference through 6
TOMS Shoe Giving. Grab some art supplies and customize your own canvas TOMS, while your matched pairs of shoes are given to a child in need. One for One. This is a great activity to host before your Dance Marathon event to create special shoes for each of your dancers or during your event as a fun and interactive project! One Day Without Shoes (One Hour Without Shoes) One Day Without Shoes is TOMS annual day of awareness in April of every year. Every year, hundreds of thousands around the world go without shoes to spread awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child s life. The more bare feet, the more conversations, the more we change the world together. Incorporating One Hour Without Shoes into your Dance Marathon event is a great way to educate attendees about the experiences of other children around the world. We encourage you to have your Dance Marathon attendees go without shoes for an hour while you share the TOMS Story to experience what it is like for those around the world. If you are planning to make group t-shirts using our artwork, we would ask that you please send your final proof to CampusPrograms@TOMS.com for approval before having your t-shirts printed. Thank you! Frequently Asked Questions Q. Does TOMS provide materials for Style your Sole events? A. TOMS does not provide art supplies or materials for Style Your Sole events. Can a TOMS representative speak or host a booth at our event? A. No, we unfortunately cannot attend events. However, please let us know what events you are hosting and if an opportunity arises where a TOMS employee could attend, we will let you know. Q. Can I visit TOMS HQ? A. Unfortunately, TOMS does not facilitate tours of our office. We hope you will use our downloadable resources and video resources to learn more about TOMS.
