MEDAL WINNING IDEAS Take some inspiration from our sport themed ideas and let the games begin. Sweepstake It couldn t be easier, simply ask people to make a donation to guess who will end up at the top of the table. Offer a prize to the person with the correct or nearest answer. The office games Bring the excitement, exhilaration and the intense feelings of success, failure and celebration to your office. Ask colleagues to make a donation to take part in events like synchronised office chair swivel, rubber band archery, table tennis or pencil javelin. You could always keep it old school with the egg and spoon, sack and the three legged race. We ve included medals at the back of the pack for you to use at your games. Have a themed party Whether you feast on food from your favourite nation or dress like them the possibilities are endless. Having a theme will make for some great memories and photos. Frisbee discus anyone? TOP TIP: Use the poster in this pack to advertise your event or to let people know about your target and why you re fundraising. Get your kit on Get your colleagues to make a small donation to come to work dressed as their favourite athlete, team or in their sports kit and charge a forfeit for those who don t. Sports quiz Challenge the mental agility and sporting knowledge of your family and friends with a quiz at your local pub, community centre or any suitable host venue. You can use the poster in this pack to promote your quiz and ask a local business for a winner s prize. If you re really good at blagging freebies why not hold a raffle or silent auction on the night to raise even more money. Movie Night TOP TIP: Start the fundraising early by asking people to donate via Justgiving. Then you can concentrate on hosting your event and hitting everyone up for a final donation on the day. Think Chariots of Fire, Cool Runnings, Bend it like Beckham or Run Fatboy Run. Watch other people strive for athletic perfection from the comfort of your sofa while raising money to beat cancer. Pick your five top sporting films and ask guests to bid for their favourites, then watch the winning film on the night. The money you raise will help us to accelerate our progress in the fight against cancer
RACING FOR A CURE Through our research, we ve helped double cancer survival in the last 40 years - but our ambition is to accelerate that progress and see three-quarters of patients surviving their cancer for at least 10 years by 2034. We will concentrate our research in four areas to give us the foundations we need to tackle cancer head on and make a real difference to people affected by cancer and their families. It s ambitious but we believe that together, we can do it. DIAGNOSE Diagnose more cancers earlier Diagnosing cancer earlier is one of the most powerful ways to improve cancer survival. The chances of successful treatment are much higher for almost all types of cancer if it s found early. TREAT Develop new cancer treatments Cancer is complex. As our understanding of the disease grows, we have an opportunity to discover and develop new treatments. OPTIMISE Make treatments more effective for each patient Researchers now have huge amounts of information about the genetic changes in different types of cancer. It s becoming clear that every patient s cancer is unique. PREVENT Reduce people s risk of developing cancer The number of people being diagnosed with cancer is rising, due to changing lifestyles and the fact that more people are living longer, reaching ages when cancer is more common. So we need to do more to prevent cancer developing in the first place. Your fundraising will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured to beat cancer once and for all thank you. In this pack you should find everything you need for a successful medal winning fundraiser event but if you have any questions call 0300 123 1022 to speak to a member of our team.
