Vancouver, British Columbia Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world which is often described as a cosmopolitan and sophisticated city with a broad multi-cultural population. The city, surrounded by breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains, is home to Stanley Park, one of the largest in-city parks. You will find that world-class restaurants are abundant, and Victoria and Whistler are a short drive away if you wish to extend your stay beyond Vancouver. Visit: www.tourismvancouver.com for a Conference Format The conference is a four day didactic lecture program. Individual day options are not offered to ensure those wanting to participate in the full program are accommodated in the limited space available. Dual Energy CT Symposium Dual Energy CT/Spectral Imaging represents a new paradigm shift in CT clinical practice. This course will help provide the participants with a balanced view of the different applications of both dual source and single source DECT/spectral imaging of the brain, thorax, heart, and abdomen. The course will also provide the audience with a basic understanding of the physics of DECT/spectral imaging. The participants will also learn how this new technology will benefit patients in routine clinical practice. And how it can be implemented into routine daily workflow. Target Audience The DECT/Spectral Symposium is for radiologists, residents, fellows, technologists, and scientists who are interested in increasing their knowledge in this new technology at the end of the Symposium, the attendees will better understand the terminology, concepts, and initiate new translation research projects in this field. Objective The audience will learn how to describe basic DECT/spectral applications as they pertain to the brain, thorax, heart, and the abdomen. Have a basic understanding of the physics and how to utilize this technology in benefitting patient care. Radiology Conference Learning Objectives Review of general current interventional techniques, therapies, and imaging techniques geared toward the general radiologists who perform limited general IR procedures who also utilize cross sectional imaging to image patients following general interventional techniques. In the half day session, didactic lectures will enable attendees to gain familiarity with a wide variety of interventional techniques such as embolization procedures in treating active bleeding in acute trauma, ultrasound guided intervention, gynecologic intervention, embolization of tumours, MSK intervention, aortic stent graft placement techniques. Review and assess current literature and how to optimize MDCT protocols and other imaging modalities to correctly manage emergency and trauma patients to ensure that the appropriate studies are performed in the correct order to minimize morbidity and mortality in the acute setting. Review and apply current indications, protocols, imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, MDCT, Ultrasound, and present diagnostic pearls and pitfalls assisting in the evaluation of common abdominal disease processes. Review imaging findings in emergency trauma conditions including patterns of cervical spinal injury, blunt vascular neck injury, pancreatic/ duodenal trauma, acute chest pain, blunt abdominal trauma. Review and assess protocols, techniques and how to optimize protocol parameters with MR, MDCT, ultrasound as it pertains to the musculoskeletal system and apply these principles to disease processes such as musculoskeletal tumours, infections, arthritis, internal joint derangement and sport related injuries. Review and apply current indications, protocols and imaging techniques such as MR, MDCT, ultrasound, contrast studies, radiography, Nuclear Medicine for the evaluation of paediatric disease processes as they pertain to the thoracic, cardiac, gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal systems and also including strategies to reduce dose. Review and apply current indications, protocols, and imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, MDCT, ultrasound, mammography in evaluation of breast and common obstetrical gynecological disease processes. Review and evaluate current and new technological advances in thoracic and cardiac imaging and appropriate utilization of these imaging tools in assessing functional, anatomical information that is clinically relevant and being able to apply this knowledge effectively to daily clinical practice. Strategies will also be introduced to reduce radiation dose for cardiac assessment without compromising image quality. Review and optimize protocols, processing technique parameters, present diagnostic pearls and pitfalls for assessing neurological anatomy, function as they pertain to common cerebrovascular, spinal, sinonasal and tumour disease processes. Review and apply current indications, protocols, imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, MDCT, ultrasound, and present diagnostic pearls and pitfalls assisting in the evaluation of common abdominal disease processes.
