Aim of the conference Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of morbidities and mortality world wide, and related risk factors are particularly increasing. Hypertension and its complications, such as heart failure, cerebrovascular events and atrial fibrillation, are mainly responsible for disabilities and numerous diseases. The implementation in clinical practice of a modern management approach is crucial, with both prevention and intervention strategies required to improve patient care while balancing the socio-economic burden. EXCEMED, in partnership with the Università degli studi di Ferrara and Università degli studi di Bologna is organising the meeting entitled Practical course on the management of cardiology from cell to patient: The experience of the Centre for Prevention and Care of Cardiovascular Diseases of the University of Ferrara to highlight to the physicians dealing with patients having cardiovascular risk factors or cardiovascular diseases the crucial role of a multidisciplinary approach in diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. This educational activity will offer the opportunity to learn from and to interact with a recognised experienced multidisciplinary team, lead by Prof. Roberto Ferrari, providing the participants with knowledge and information on diagnosis and managing patients. Learning objectives After attending the meeting, participants will have up-to-date knowledge about the research and clinical management of diabetes and thyroid disorders, and particularly will be able to: Explain the role of beta-blockers in cardiovascular treatment Apply techniques such as electrophysiology, haemodynamics, echocardiography and imaging within clinical care Describe and appropriately apply the different guidelines on use of beta-blockers Discuss the experimental cardiology related to bisoprolol and the structure of clinical trials Target audience Cardiologists and internists Accreditation An application has been to the EACCME for CME accreditation of the Practical course on the management of cardiology from cell to patient: The experience of the Centre for Prevention and Care of Cardiovascular Diseases of the University of Ferrara. 1
