Objective To spark an interest in post secondary education and civil responsibility. Goals: To visit Washington, DC sites that directly relate to the 8 th grade curriculum To have first hand learning with real world experiences To participate in a social experience that will create better communicators, collaborators, and problem solvers To provide a safe learning environment

Safety, continued Chaperones 8:1 student to chaperone ratio Each chaperone will be assigned to two rooms of students (students rooming 4 to a room) FBMS teachers, nurse, principal, and guidance counselor attending Superintendent and school committee members invited to attend FBMS Emergency Preparedness Each student will have an Emergency Preparedness Plan booklet in their daypack, which will contain contingency plans, printed itineraries, bus seating plan, list of nearby hospitals, and rally point maps Each chaperone will have a student photograph, emergency contact, and medical information about each student in their group Food allergies, other medical, and educational accommodations will be taken into consideration and planned for
Tour Itinerary / Day 1 Assemble at Furnace Brook Middle to depart around 11:30pm on Tuesday, June 6 th, 2017 and depart at 11:59 on June 6 th, 2017 Chaperones distribute $10for breakfast en route to DC Learn about the Smithsonian Institution during an introduction by your Tour Director Visit the Smithsonian museum of your choice, which may include: Natural History Museum American History Museum Lunch in Washington, DC @ American History Museum Take a tour of Tidal Basin Memorials: FDR Memorial MLK Memorial Jefferson Memorial Dinner in Washington, DC Hotel
Tour Itinerary / Day 2 Breakfast at your hotel Visit Arlington National Cemetery and witness the changing of the guard Wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Visit the Marine Corps War Memorial Enjoy lunch at Pentagon City Mall Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Dinner @ Bertucci s FBMS band performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial Vietnam War Memorial Lincoln Memorial Korean War Memorial Return to hotel
