Workplace Giving.

1in 5 Australians has some form of arthritis or osteoporosis. It can affect anybody This represents approx. 1.5 Million NSW residents and about 870,000 people with arthritis of working age (15-64 years). If just 5% of working NSW residents donated $5 per week through their pay, an additional $11.3 Million would be generated each year...

About Workplace Giving Workplace Giving is a simple, low cost but yet a powerful way for employees to support Arthritis NSW in helping to provide more services and information to the NSW community. You can choose to donate as much or as little as you like. For employers, Workplace Giving is a low-cost and effective way to let your employees, shareholders and clients know your business is committed to being socially responsible and understands the importance arthritis has on the workplace. Research has shown that employees are much more engaged in Workplace Giving if the company they work for matches their donations. If your company can do this, you ll be doubling your company s support... * * ACF Cutting to the heart of Workplace Giving

Workplace and arthritis Facts about arthritis in the workplace: 60% of people with arthritis are of working age (15-64 years) 2.4 million Australians of working age have arthritis 44% of people with arthritis in the workplace are dissatisfied with work integration Over half of $7.6 billion related to arthritis can be attributed to productivity costs reflecting reduced employment rates and an increase in absenteeism resulting from arthritic conditions. The Annual cost of lost earnings due to workplace separation and early retirement due to arthritis is estimated as $3.7 billion. At this stage, unfortunately, there is no cure for arthritis. However, there are many simple things you can do to help you manage your pain and condition in the workplace. This can range from exercise, pain management, diet and healthy eating and medicines.

Why support Arthritis NSW? How can we help? Arthritis NSW is a non-government health charity that seeks to improve the quality of life of those affected by arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions. We provide information to people living in New South Wales who have been newly diagnosed with the disease as well as those who have lived with it for some time. Young or old. Male or female. In the city or the country. Arthritis can affect anyone. We provide support, advice and information for people with arthritis or other musculoskeletal conditions and their families We enable people to develop self-management skills We promote community awareness of the issues associated with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions We work with health professionals to improve management of arthritis and early diagnosis We provide seminars and community programs for the community and health professionals We support research into the causes and treatment of arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

How does it work? Step 1: Employees are asked to commit to making small, regular donations via payroll deductions. Step 2: Employees get an immediate and guaranteed reduction in tax. Step 3: Employers may choose to provide a matching donation. Step 4: Your payroll officer collates the employee donations each month and transfers the funds to Arthritis Foundation of NSW. Tax Deductions Workplace giving donations are deducted from your employee s salary before tax is applied, thereby reducing taxable income. And because donations are made pre-tax, it will only cost the employee 62 cents for every dollar they pledge (based on a tax rate of 38% on average). The Australian Taxation Office pays the balance. Arthritis NSW is registered as a current Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), meaning that all Workplace Giving contributions qualify for an immediate tax deduction.

Making it happen Please deposit the funds directly into Arthritis NSW s bank account by internet transfer, bank deposit or cheque in the post.
