RESOLUTIONS OF 13 TH WG1 JPEG GENEVA MEETING Title: Resolutions of the 13 th ISO/IEC JTC1/ SC29/ WG1 JPEG Meeting, Geneva, Switzerland, 23-27 March 1998 Source: ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29/WG1 JPEG-LS Resolution 1 Approval of JPEG-LS ad hoc group report WG1 approves the Geneva meeting report of JPEG-LS ad hoc group in WG1N814 and encourages its promotion to the next standard stage. Resolution 2 Harmonization Comments on IS text of JPEG-LS WG1 resolves that the final DIS (FDIS) text for JPEG-LS Part 1 (FDIS 14495-1) shall be modified according to the WG1 document WG1N807 and be submitted to SC29 Secretariat, ITU-T, IETF; and request SC29 Secretariat to start FDIS ballot process with the comments reflecting this modification. Resolution 3 Request for Patent Licensing WG1 resolves that WG1 will request the following affiliations which proposed their technologies to JPEG-LS Part 2 (WD 14495-2) to announce their patent licensing conditions before the next WG1 meeting starting from 6 July, 1998 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Technical University of Denmark University of California, Santa Cruz JPEG PART 4 Resolution 4 Approval of JPEG Part 4 ad hoc group report WG1 approves the report of the JPEG Part 4 ad hoc group in WG1N734. Resolution 5 Acknowledgement of REGAUT proposal WG1 acknowledges the proposal by the French NB regarding registration authority of JPEG parameters by AFNOR in WG1N789. WG1 looks forward to hearing from AFNOR about the relevant activity at the next WG1 meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, 6 July, 1998. Page 2 of 5

JPEG PART 3 ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29/WG1 N 811 Resolution 6 Approval of JPEG Part 3 Draft Amendment WG1 approves the Draft Amendment to JPEG Part 3 (10918-3) contained in WG1N793 to support the registration of new compression types using the JPEG part 4 registration process, and requests the SC29 Secretariat for appropriate processing. JPEG 2000 Resolution 7 Approval of JPEG 2000 ad hoc groups reports WG1 approves the following JPEG 2000 ad hoc groups reports: report of the JPEG 2000 core experiment ad hoc group in WG1N815, report of the JPEG 2000 requirements and profiles ad hoc group in WG1N785, report of the JPEG 2000 Verification Model ad hoc group in WG1N820, and report of the JPEG 2000 Public Relations ad hoc group in WG1N812. Resolution 8 Approval of JPEG 2000 requirements and profiles, Version 2.0 WG1 approves Version 2.0 of the JPEG 2000 requirements and profiles document in WG1N817. Resolution 9 JPEG 2000 Requirements and Profiles document National Body Review WG1 requests all participating national bodies to provide written comments on the JPEG 2000 requirements and profiles document Version 2.0 (WG1N817) by the Copenhagen meeting of WG1. These comments will be reviewed at the Copenhagen meeting and a revised version of the requirements and profiles document will be issued according to these reviews. LIAISONS Resolution 10 Approval of Liaison statement to WG11 WG1 approves the liaison statement to WG11 contained in WG1N818. Resolution 11 Nomination of Liaison to SC24 WG1 nominates to SC29 Ms. Kathleen Rattell (USA) as SC29 liaison to SC24 and its subgroups. Resolution 12 Nomination of Liaison to JTAG2 WG1 recommends to SC29 that Dr. Scott Foshee (USA) be nominated to JTC1 as an additional SC29 liaison to JTAG2 with special interest in WG1 related activities. Resolution 18 - Appreciation for JPEG 2000 ad hoc subgroup WG1 wishes to thank the participants in the JPEG 2000 ad hoc subgroups, and especially to Ms. Kathleen Rattell (USA) for her contribution in leading this effort. Resolution 19 Appreciation to the resolution drafting committee WG1 wishes to acknowledge the work of the resolution drafting committee, Dr. Scott Foshee (USA, chair), Dr. Touradj Ebrahimi (Switzerland), Dr. Eric Majani (France), and Dr. Fumitaka Ono (Japan) for their excellent work. Resolution 20 Appreciation for the meeting host ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29/WG1 N 811 WG1 wishes to thank Ms. Salma Soudagar and Dr. Alistair Buttar of Motorola, Switzerland; Dr. Touradj Ebrahimi of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Head of the Swiss Delegation to WG1, and the Swiss National Body for an excellent arrangement and organization for this meeting. WG1 enjoyed Geneva very much. WG1 specifically wishes to thank the following Motorola personnel for their personal efforts in this regard: Mrs. Alma Cogswell and Ms. Natizia Rosafio.
