Treatment planning Dental implant treatment can occasionally be complex and requires a combination of clear and accurate diagnosis, extensive training and clinical skill. Most importantly, good treatment planning requires a detailed discussion between you and your clinician to ensure the objectives of the treatment, and the expectations for the outcome, are clearly understood by all. The better quality the treatment plan, then the more successful the final treatment is likely to be. Our treatment planning service is divided into three simple and understandable bands. The band most suitable for you will depend on your current dental health, the complexity of the treatment required and the number of diagnostic tests needed. The fees are fixed, ensuring clarity and peace-of-mind. You will be informed after your Initial Consultation what further treatment planning, if any, will be required. Simple Treatments - 175 Our simple treatment planning service consists of your Initial Consultation with an implantologist, an Orthopantomogram (OPG) digital x-ray and a report following your appointment. This is normally sufficient for simple cases such as single tooth replacements. More advanced treatment planning may be required if you have poor general oral health, you are currently suffering from complications such as an infection, more advanced diagnostic tests are required or you would like more time to discuss treatment with your implantologist. With this service, you will benefit from approximately 45 minutes of clinical time with your implantologist. Complex Treatments - 395 295 if you proceed with treatment* This planning service includes additional consultation(s) following the initial 45-minute appointment, combined with a more detailed report. The number of consultations and nature of the report will depend on the complexity of your treatment. This service is normally sufficient for more advanced cases such as multiple tooth replacement and straightforward denture stabilisation treatments. The cost of a single sectional or single jaw Computerised Tomography Cone-Beam (CBCT) scan and clinical report is included. During treatment planning you will benefit from between 1.25 and 3 hours of clinical time with your implantologist. Large Complex Treatments - 595 495 if you proceed with treatment* This planning service is used for particularly complicated treatments. It includes a Computerised Tomography Cone- Beam (CBCT) assessment of your full jaw. It will typically involve multiple visits, perhaps over a number of weeks, and reflects the time needed to discuss your circumstances as well as assemble the required radiograph and diagnostic reports. This service is suitable for the most complex cases such as full arch reconstructions or patients presenting with particularly difficult or chronic conditions. Patients in this band will benefit from between 3 and 6 hours of clinical time with their implantologist. * Terms apply. Visit www.westend-dental.com/implants/planning for more info. 5

Replacing a gap of teeth If you need to replace a gap of several teeth, there are two options using dental implants. For maximum strength, each individual tooth can be replaced with an individual implant (see Replacing single teeth). Alternatively, an implant-retained bridge can be used and may be appropriate depending on clinical circumstances. This may well reduce costs but may not achieve as superior a cosmetic result as individual crowns. A bridge is a dental treatment consisting of several crowns (artificial teeth) joined together. An implant retained bridge uses dental implants to secure the bridge. Implant retained bridge - Quote required Implant retained bridges are complex treatments and can come with a wide variety of options depending on the size of the gap, desired cosmetic effect, number of implants required and so forth. Accordingly, prices for implant-retained bridges can only be quoted in individual circumstances following examination and full assessment. 7
Replacing a full arch of teeth If you are missing all of your teeth in an arch (e.g. your upper jaw or lower jaw) or it is most appropriate to remove any remaining teeth due to damage or decay, dental implants can be used to provide replacements. One option is an implant stabilised denture. Although the construction is similar to a conventional denture, an over-denture has the significant added advantage of being held in place during chewing. An over-denture is removable but instead of being supported by your gums it is supported by dental implants, providing much greater stability and strength. The choice of over-denture and the number of supporting implants is determined by the desired outcome and your dental health. Simple over-dentures in the lower jaw are particularly suitable for patients with loose or ill fitting conventional lower dentures. For many patients these are life-changing treatments. They significantly improve the quality of chewing so that meals can once again be enjoyed without worrying about loose or unstable dentures. Alternatively, you may opt to replace all of your teeth with a fixed, full arch reconstruction. This treatment is the closest replacement for natural teeth. Being fixed they can only be removed by a dental professional. 8
