YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Nurturing the potential of every child and teen SUMMER TENNIS CAMP The YMCA and Concho Valley Tennis Association are working together to grow the sport of tennis in the Concho Valley. For: Boys Girls ages 7-18 Fees: $35.00 per week $5.00 discount if the child is registered for 3+ camps Clinic Dates: Sessions offered weekly starting June 5 - July 27. Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am - 10:00 am X-TREME KIDS SPORTS CAMPS This program is designed to offer youth of all skill levels an opportunity to engage in a 5 day instructional camp for specific sports. The camp will use specific skill sets from various qualified trainers and instructors to improve participants overall athletic fitness level. YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE Competitive and Developmental Leagues Available! The YMCA Youth Volleyball League is designed to introduce and advance the game of volleyball to players in the 3rd - 8th grade. Teams are formed according to grade, area and previous team. All players in the developmental division will receive equal playing time while the competitive division is at the discretion of the coach. Fees: $50.00 Y-Members / $65.00 Non-Members Registration Dates: June 15 - August 25 Late Registration: August 26 - September 1 $15 Late Fee Applies Season: October 2 - November 18 YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CLINIC To better prepare your child for the YMCA Volleyball League the Y will be offering a clinic focusing on the basic skills associated with volleyball. Instructors will focus on incorporating fun, dynamic drills while working on footwork and conditioning essential to help your child be successful. For: 3rd - 8th grade students Fees: $50.00 Y-Members / $65.00 Non-Members Registration Dates: June 15 - August 28 Clinic Dates: August 28 - August 31 Time: 5:30pm - 7:00pm YOUTH TACKLE FOOTBALL LEAGUE 11-Man 6-Man The YMCA Youth Tackle football program is for 3rd - 6th grade students in San Angelo and neighboring communities seeking to learn and apply the fundamentals of tackle football. The Y instructs under the USA football system while adhering to all safety regulation and instruction. Fees: $70.00 Y-Members / $85.00 Non-Members Equipment Rental: $22.00 Helmet $17.50 Shoulder Pads Registration Dates: June 1 - August 4 Late Registration: August 5 - August 11 $15 Late Fee Applies Season: September 16 - November 12 ALL GIRLS 6-MAN TACKLE FOOTBALL LEAGUE The YMCA will be offering its Inaugural season of an all girls tackle football league. The league is available for girls 3rd - 6th grade and divided into two divisions. All registration information is the same as the youth tackle football league above. FOOTBALL OTA s Prepare for the 2017-2018 season with the Y s session of organized team activity. Instructors will focus on USA Football techniques allowing participants to improve on all things football including conditioning, tackling, and more. Fees: $80.00 Y-Members / $95.00 Non-Members Equipment will be issued at no extra fee, date TBA. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM The Y Afterschool Program provides a safe, structured environment for children when school lets out. Our trained staff assist with homework, lead engaging activities, provide a healthy snack and create an overall fun environment. Program sites are located at all of the SAISD elementary schools and Headstart locations. (Wall ISD is bussed to the YMCA.) Registration Starts July 10 Registration Fee: $20.00 Weekly Fee School Aged: $48.00 Y-Members / $59.00 Non-Members Weekly Fee Head Start/Wall Elementary: $58.00 Y-Members / $65.00 Non-Members Drop In: $18.00 per day DAY CAMPS During school breaks, on the days that the Y is open, we will offer full day camps from 7:00am - 6:00pm. Registration and fees are separate from the After School Program. Registration Dates: Monday, 6 weeks before camp date Camp Fee: $20.00 day Y-Members / $ 24.00 day Non-Members Camp Dates: TBA 4 LITTLE EXPLORERS PRE-SCHOOL By participating in the Little Explorers Program your child will have the opportunity to prepare for kindergarten while taking advantage of all that the YMCA has to offer. Children will participate in engaging educational activities, swim days, field trips, and more. Low ratio classrooms will allow children to build educational skills as well as foster social and emotional growth. In order to participate in our program your child must be 3-5 years of age with a current shot record and health assessment. Program Dates: August 17, 2017 - August 10, 2018 Registration Fee: $20.00 Monthly Fee : $ 440.00 Y-Members / $495.00 Non-Members The YMCA of San Angelo turns no one away due to the inability to pay. Financial Assistance is available to those who qualify. Visit the Y to find out more information! KIDS NIGHT OUT (KNO) Parent s take the night off. Allow the Y the chance to entertain your child while you take some time to yourself. Kids will swim, eat dinner, play games and watch movies. Ages: 3-12 Program Dates: KNO will resume with the 2017-2018 school year. Program Hours: 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm Registration Fee: $15.00 Y-Member / $20.00 Non-Member FAMILY NIGHT OUT (FNO) Saturday nights are for families. Parent s this is your opportunity to enjoy your family, make memories and build a healthy relationship without doing all the work. Enjoy dinner, swimming and a movie in the yard. Program Dates: TBA Program Fee: $8.00 per person Children 3 and younger are FREE!

Complete trainer bios located at www.ymcasanangelo.org TO THE LIMIT STRENGTH CLUB July 24-28 The YMCA is challenging all members in the weight room. Participants have to successfully perform a one repetition max on the bench press, squat, and deadlift with correct form for a combined total of 500+ pounds for women, 300+ pounds for women 50 years and older, 1000+ pounds for men and 750+ pounds for men 50 years and older. Once this is completed all participants will receive a t-shirt and their picture on the To The Limit Strength Club wall. Must be 21 years and older to test. POUND FOR POUND CHALLENGE June 12-16 In the Pound for Pound challenge participants are weighed prior to competing. Participants body weight will be placed on the bar (to the nearest 5 lbs.) and participants will perform the bench press until fatigue sets in and a proper press can no longer be performed. Repetitions will be counted and the participant with the most reps will be declared the Strong Man champion and awarded the Pound for Pound trophy. PRE-TEEN FITNESS ORIENTATION Do you have a child that is not 13 years of age but eager to lift weights? Does your teenager require a little extra guidance and instruction with proper technique or fitness etiquette? This is the class for you! Parents this 2.5 hour class is designed to teach proper use of the equipment, proper technique in some of the common lifts, general techniques to follow when lifting, safety concerns while in the weight room and common courtesies that are enforced at the YMCA. May 1 - August 31 the YMCA will waive the join fee for all school employees eager to make a change! Monthly dues will reflect the normal rate as advertised for each membership category. All promotional memberships will terminate August 31, 2017 and will require renewal to continue. No additional fees assessed if the member renews within 30 days. School identification is required. SILVER SNEAKERS What is SilverSneakers? The SilverSneakers Fitness program is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events. Did you know 1 out of 5 people 65 or older is eligible for a SilverSneakers membership! If you re a group retiree, or part of a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement Health plan, you may already have a SilverSneakers membership. This active adult wellness program is offered to many Medicare plans across the nation. CHILD WATCH Children between the ages of 12 weeks to 12 years are welcome in the child watch area for up to 2 hours a day. GROUP FITNESS CYCLING If your body is screaming for an early morning ride, come join this high intensity stationary cycling class. PIYO LIVE PiYO Live combines the muscle sculpting, core firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of flowing yoga movements. During the course of the class you will see improvements in flexibility, balance and core power with an intense, low impact workout that will burn lots of calories and sculpt every inch of your body for a long lean physique. SILVER SNEAKERS Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion and everyday living skills. MULTI LEVEL YOGA A yoga class that everyone can relate to individually while taking home new methods and inspiration offthe-matt from various yoga techniques. TONING This class utilizes strength training exercises with aiming in developing a physique with a large emphasis on strength and muscle toning. With the use of light weights (1lb.-3lb.) this class will give your body a noticeable muscle definition and shape. ZUMBA Dance your way to a fitter body with exciting and unique Latin moves and rhythms. ZUMBA GOLD If you are a beginner, returning to exercise or having joint issues, this class is for you. This Latin inspired dance fitness class has all the same energizing music as Zumba, but set to a low impact or no impact routines, designed to be easy to follow and fun. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. TURN BACK THE CLOCK YOGA Back to the basics of yoga, class that focuses on proper breathing, relaxation and low impact stretches. P90X P90X is a total body program that incorporates strength training, cardio, core work and flexibility. It uses the science of muscle confusion to challenge your body with new moves and routines. P90X also uses some plyometric training that helps people beat their plateau by training their bodies with different workouts. AQUATICS PROGRESSIVE LEVEL SWIM LESSONS PARENT CHILD Parent/Child classes are designed not only to introduce infants to water but to teach parents simple ways to continue their child s progression throughout their younger years. 3-5 YEARS Our toddler swimming lessons introduce participants to the water in a fun and energetic way. Instructors focus heavily on basic front crawl, back crawl, kicking skills, floating and general pool safety. Class is intended for children with little to no water experience. LEVEL 1 Level 1 classes are tailored towards children who are comfortable with their face in the eater and able to swim 15-20 feet without a floatation device. While in the class children should improve front, back, side and breaststroke skills while learning proper technique associated with rotary breathing. LEVEL 2 For children who are capable of swimming 25 yards or more on front and back without use of a floatation device. This level focuses more heavily on front, back and side stroke skills and rotary breathing. Participants at this level will be introduced to other components of swimming and butterfly kick. Y LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION Coming this Fall! Interested in a summer job or need that recertification for your current lifeguarding license. The Y offers a certification class to meet your needs. This 28 hour certification course will take place via email as well as at the YMCA. Program Fees: $200.00 Y POOL SWIM ATTIRE GUIDELINES At the San Angelo YMCA all swimmers must wear proper swim attire. This includes lined swimming trunks for men and lined swim suits for women. Please express modesty as the YMCA is a family pool. T-shirts are allowed in the shallow end of the pool. Absolutely no undergarments worn under swim suits. Please shower before entering the pool. Food and drink are prohibited on the pool deck. LEVEL 3 This last level of swim lessons is for children who have completed the previous levels, able to swim 50 yards of freestyle with using proper rotary breathing method. During the course of the lesson participants will refine their breaststroke, refine butterfly and improve overall swim skills. Each session will consist of (8) 30 minute lessons. Morning sessions offered: Monday - Thursday for 2 weeks Class times will vary between 9:00am - 10:30am. Evening sessions offered: Tuesday and Thursday for the course of the month. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY The YMCA S social responsibility as a cause driven human service organization is focused on strengthening the foundation of community and that foundation is the family unit. NATIONAL HEPA STANDARDS One area of Social Responsibility assumed by the YMCA childcare department is the use of National HEPA Standards (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity) in order to reverse the obesity epidemic, prevent diabetes and lower the risk of heart disease. (CATCH) COORDINATED APPROACH TO CHILD HEALTH The CATCH Program focuses on coordinating four components, the Eat Smart school nutrition program, K-5 classroom curriculum, a Physical Education program, and a Family Program. The YMCA has implemented these four components in its After School Program. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Everyone belongs at the Y, regardless of ability to pay. The YMCA turns no one away due to the inability to pay. Over 13% of all YMCA members and participants are recipients of a YMCA scholarship. Financial assistance is available for most programs and services. Financial assistance applications are available at the Welcome Center and online. Submit the application with proof of income for all wage earners in the household and expect a response in 7-10 business days. INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES? The San Angelo YMCA has a variety of volunteer opportunities available through out the year. If you are interested in coaching your child or have a passion for youth development the Y is the place for you. Active military is not required to pay a joining fee. Proof is required. All monthly payments MUST be made by automatic bank draft from a checking or savings account. A voided check or letter from the bank is required to set up the draft. Un-renewed memberships in excess of 30 days will require another joining fee to be paid upon renewal. All membership changes and terminations require a 30 day written notice. The YMCA accepts payment by cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Members may add an adult, living in the home, to any Family or Single Parent Family membership for an extra $21.00 a month. Proof of residency is required. GUEST FEES Non-Members of the San Angelo YMCA may use the facility and attend classes as a guest. Guests accompanied by a YMCA member pay a fee of $5.00 per visit. Those guests not accompanied by a YMCA member pay a fee of $5.00 for youth/students and $7.00 for adults. A fee of $2.00 will be charged to those requesting use of child watch services. This fee gives all guests member privileges for the day and full access to the facility. All guests must sign-in and provide photo I.D. 11
