Zimmer Biomet Institute Surgeon Faculty Sergio Delmonte Alves, M.D. Orthopedic Surgeon Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Dr. Sérgio Delmonte Alves received his Medical Degree from the Universidade Severino Sombra, antiga Faculdade de Medicina de Vassouras and completed his residency at the Military Police Hospital specializing in Hip Surgery at the Trauma Orthopedics Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. He is currently the Chief of Hip Surgery at Santa Casa de Misericórdia of Rio de Janeiro and Hospital Santa Teresa in Centro, Petrópolis, Brazil. Dr. Delmonte Alves is also a long-time member of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SBOT), Brazilian Hip Society and Orthopedic Trauma Society. Dr. Sérgio Delmonte Alves is former president of Brazilian Hip Society (Regional RJ), Hip Committee (SBOT) as well as former Scientific Director of the Brazilian Hip Society. Jorge Luiz Mezzalira Penedo, M.D. Orthopedic Surgeon Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Dr. Penedo is an orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in hip reconstruction. A graduate of Rio de Janeiro University (UNIRIO), he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Traumatology and Orthopaedia National Institute (INTO) in Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Penedo was the President of Rio de Janeiro Hip Society and Brazilian Hip Society. Currently, he is a member of the Brazilian Orthopaedic and Traumatology Society, affiliated member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a member of the Advisory Board of Brazilian Hip Society. He is also Chief of the Hip Department at Americas Hospital in Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil Primary and Revision Hip Surgical Skills Workshop James Rand, M.D. Orthopaedic Surgeon Paradise Valley, Arizona U.S.A. Dr. James Rand is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon in Paradise Valley, Arizona. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Arizona and Colorado. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and completed his Residency Training at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and Mayo Medical School. He received a Master of Science in orthopedics from the University of Minnesota. He received the Kappa Delta Award of the AAOS for basic research on fracture healing. He was a founding member and served as president of both The Knee Society and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic Arizona. Dr. Rand has been in practice for more than 40 years and specializes in Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis. His professional memberships (Emeritus) include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, The Knee Society, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America.
