A lucky member at our Bannatyne Health Club in Glasgow Stepps has followed in the footsteps of Duncan Bannatyne and taken a trip of a lifetime to Australia after being the lucky winner of our Join a Friend campaign in December 2015. To celebrate the Chairman s appearance on the TV Programme I m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here the prize this time round was an all expenses paid trip to Australia to stay in the 5 star Palazzo Versace Hotel in Brisbane on Australia s Gold Coast. Des Mckendry has been a member of the Club for two years and referred his son Anthony, who subsequently joined the Club, during the promotion. Des was absolutely delighted when it finally sank in that it wasn t a wind up! I m sure he and his wife Carol will have an amazing time and we certainly won t be asking him to eat any bugs and creepy crawlies like Duncan had to!
Protein Should be Included in Every Meal - Kinetica 2016 Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats; The Kinetica Sports Low Down on Macronutrients. Macronutrients are nutrients that provide calories or energy. Nutrients are substances needed for growth, metabolism and for other body functions. Since macro means large, macronutrients are nutrients needed in large amounts and include: Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat. Each meal should consist of a portion of protein, complex carbohydrates and fats. Carbohydrate Carbohydrate is the body s primary energy source and is essential for short bursts of intense activity. It is stored in the form of glycogen in the muscles and the liver. You need to ensure an adequate supply for intense exercise and replenish afterwards. Avoid large carbohydrate meals, as these can make you sleepy and excess calories will be converted into body fat. Always choose whole grain options, brown rice, whole-wheat cereal and whole grain breads. Protein Protein is the main structural component of muscle tissue as well as providing a source of energy as an alternative to carbohydrates during exercise. Protein should be included at every meal and can be found in lean meat and poultry, oily fish and also peas and beans (legumes). Protein shakes such as Kinetica s Whey Protein are another option containing all the right ingredients to support lean muscle growth and recovery. What s great about protein shakes is they are quickly absorbed by the body allowing you to achieve the maximum effect in a short space of time.
Kinetica s Whey Protein Contains All the Right Ingredients to Support Lean Muscle Growth and Recovery - kinetica 2016 Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats; The Kinetica Sports Low Down on Macronutrients Continued... Fats Fat is essential for building body tissues and cells. It also aids in the transportation of vitamins and nutrients in the body. It is used as an alternative source of energy when carbohydrates are not available. Hydration Hydration should also be a priority. The average adult requires at least 2-3 litres of water a day. Fruit and Vegetables Aim for six to seven servings of vegetables each day and one to two portions of fruit. The fibre in vegetables, when eaten with carbohydrates, slows down the release of carbohydrates into the body, reducing swings in blood sugar control. Fibre has been identified as having many beneficial effects including control of blood glucose and controlling appetite. Race for Shelter - tower 42 Vertical Rush! Bannatyne Supports Racers Climbing 932 Steps for Charity! On the 8th March Bannatyne Tower 42 Health Club once again supported racers who were climbing the 932 steps up the tower to help raise money and awareness for the charity, Shelter. Bannatyne was there to provide spin bikes and Kinetica samples along with plenty of encouragement from as early as 6.30am. Vertical rush is an annual charity challenge that sees thousands of racers climb the famous London tower to help raise over 365,000 for Shelter. Every 11 minutes a family loses their home in Britain and racers complete the challenge to help stop this from happening. Staff from Bannatyne Tower 42 have been providing race day nutrition advice, warm and cool down exercises as well as stair climbing techniques. Congratulations to everyone that took part in this grueling race for Shelter! Thank You!
It s the Densest Form of Cardio You Can Do - Blahnik Shockwave; Exclusive to Bannatyne Health Clubs, Launched in March 2016 We are proud to announce the launch of a fantastic new group exercise concept that combines hard work, fun and reward. Shockwave has been produced by Jay Blahnik, Fitness Advisor from America s leading Health Club chain, Equinox and world champion rower and ultra-endurance athlete, Josh Crosby. These classes are exclusive to Bannatyne Health Clubs in the UK. This is achieved via 30 and 45 minute circuit-style cardio and strength sessions in a group fitness setting where the rower is up-front and center in a motivational team environment. Members split into groups and are placed at either a rower, or at one of three strength stations. No one is allowed to rotate until each rower completes his or her programmed distance on the new, chic, wooden-framed Indo-Row machines, which actually use water as the rower's resistance. According to the creators of the Shockwave class, rowing uses 80 percent of your muscle mass and recruits nine major muscle groups. You are therefore going to get the most for your minutes. Blahnik says, "It's the densest form of cardio you can do. Shockwave will be launched in five different Bannatyne Health Clubs in the London area with over 20 instructors attending the initial training in order to roll the programme out across the country in 2016.
A Great Investment in the Product - ESTATES AND DEVELOPMENT 2016 Development News for 2016 2016 is already lining up to be a very exciting and busy time in the Estates and Development Division. We're planning major expenditure at our new additions of Clarice House, Bury and Clarice House, Colchester where we will be investing circa 750,000 in upgrading the spa treatment rooms and retailing areas to improve the guest/member journey. This comes on the back of nearly one million pounds that we invested into Bury last year in the redevelopment of studios and the Health Club reception area as well as an upgrade of gym equipment. In addition to these projects we are already in the planning for ten spa extensions which we hope to bring to site in the fourth quarter of 2016, planning approval pending. Each one of these locations will represent an investment of between 500,000 and 750,000 on behalf of the organisation. All of this is on top of the upgrade of 35 gym floors. As you can see the list above shows great investment in the product and should be a great addition for our members and day guests over the coming months and years.
