NAME: Leslea Latham, PT, DPT POSITION RUNNING FOR: President CITY/TOWN OF RESIDENCE: Albuquerque APTA MEMBERSHIP (years): 15 NEW MEXICO MEMBERSHIP (years):15 NMAPTA CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHIES SECTION MEMBERSHIP(S): Acute Care and Health Policy and Administration EDUCATION: B.S. in Physical Therapy 1989 and DPT in 2014 PREVIOUS BOARD EXPERIENCE: NMAPTA Board member 2010-2012, Vice President 2012-2015, President 2015 Present PERTINENT EXPERIENCE: I am a Physical Therapist working in New Mexico for 25 years for Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Initially I practiced in the acute care, skilled nursing and home care settings and am now serving as the director of inpatient, SNF and outpatient clinical areas. I am the director of the Presbyterian Healthplex which in addition to providing rehabilitation services, provides cardiac, pulmonary and wellness services. I am responsible for facilitating rehabilitation standardization with our regional facilities. I work in an integrated healthcare service, so I have extensive experience working with insurance programs, physicians and healthcare delivery systems to provide care throughout the state. Since becoming a board member in 2010, I have participated in the legislative committee and learned a great deal about the rehabilitation challenges throughout the state including fair co-pay legislation. I was fortunate to participate on the legislative committee and be part of our successful effort to get direct access legislation passed during the 2015 session. I have had the experience of attending the APTA House of Delegates as the alternate delegate and received training for new component leadership by the APTA. I believe my experiences working with the NMAPTA as vice president and now as President make me a good candidate for President. Continue to support direct access implementation in New Mexico. Increase participation by physical therapists and physical therapist assistance in NMAPTA and APTA. Promotion of high level CEU courses to continue to elevate the practice of physical therapy in New Mexico. Alignment of NMAPTA to work with insurance companies to reduce healthcare costs through fitness and wellness programs to their members. Promote fair co-pay legislation to be able to provide affordable services to our patients requiring physical therapy. ~~~ NAME: Beth Black, PT, GCS POSITION RUNNNG FOR: NMAPTA Chief delegate RESIDENCE: Albuquerque, New Mexico
