Food to clean the arteries and prevent atherosclerosis Source http://melhorcomsaude.com/10-alimentos-limpar-as-arterias-prevenir-aterosclerose/ Atherosclerosis is a disease with complicated name, but which is well known: it is characterized by the buildup of fatty plaque in the arteries and veins of the body, particularly in the larger ones, and that can trigger cardiac and vascular diseases. Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of heart attacks and strokes. The severity of atherosclerosis does that we have a great desire to prevent its onset in our body. Some of the main risk factors are high blood pressure, obesity, physical inactivity, smoking, diabetes and low consumption of foods with HDL, or "good" cholesterol that protects the heart. In this article, we'll talk about some foods that can help you maintain your circulatory system free of fat. Combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise they are a good protection against atherosclerosis. 1. Garlic Page 1

Garlic is known as antibacterial, astringent and stimulating. Helps the immune system and, combined with honey and lemon, combats the flu symptoms. You can also mix the crushed garlic with honey to clear the arteries, consuming one tablespoon a day or three teaspoons three times a day. 2. Oat Bran Two tablespoons of oat bran per day hinders the absorption of the fat by the intestines, making the body develops less cholesterol. Oat bran can be found in supermarkets and health food stores, and is also known as an ally of weight loss. The bran fiber absorbs 20 times its size in amount of water, promoting a feeling of durable satiety. 3. Pomegranate juice Pomegranate juice has lots of antioxidants, which fight free radicals and contributes to the body's overall health. Consume it regularly, buying organic fruits of good origin, to also improve your circulatory system. Page 2

4. Apple The pectin and flavonoids present in apple reduce the amount of "bad" cholesterol and help to prevent heart attack and other cardiovascular problems. Consume pure or in salads, vitamins and juices, raw. 5. Eggplant We always talk about the many beneficial properties of eggplant: the water of eggplant helps to lose weight and improve immunity, among other benefits. The vegetable is also rich in vitamin C, which helps to decrease the risk of high cholesterol. Consume regularly, of the way you like, raw or cooked. Just avoid Page 3

fried foods such as breaded eggplant, because of the high oil content of the recipe. 6. Turmeric Turmeric is from the ginger family, root often used as medicine or as healthy food, decongestant airway and energetic. Less famous than its cousin, the turmeric has a substance called curcumin, which protects the heart and the health of the blood vessel. 7. Extra virgin olive oil Page 4

Olive oil protects the heart since it is eaten raw, not in hot plates. You can use it in salads and soups (after ready), among other dishes. 8. Avocado It is recommended two tablespoons a day of this full-bodied and tasty fruit to get good results. It has monounsaturated fat, which is good for the heart, beyond as amino acids and vitamins. Consume it raw, in sauces, pastes and vitamins sweetened with honey. Brazilians prefer the taste of sweet avocado mixed with milk, therefore make creams, ice creams and vitamins with the ingredient using a vegetable or skim milk. Good choices are oat milk, of rice, of nuts (which also is good for the heart) or of soy. 9. Tomato The tomato has high amounts of lycopene, the antioxidant also present in the watermelon and guava. It helps fight free radicals, which cause damage to veins and arteries. Consume raw or cooked. Page 5

10. Spinach Rich in iron, like all dark green leafy vegetables, spinach also has vitamins A and C which neutralize the negative actions of the "bad" cholesterol, protecting the heart. Consume raw in salads or in green juices combined with cabbage, ginger and lemon. The crude salsa can also be added to the green juice with spinach, increasing its astringent power and cleaning even more the arteries. Page 6
