A novel technique for minimally invasive lower limb fasciotomy for compartment syndrome the Dissectoview endoscopic dissector. This project has involved both cadaveric and animal research. In cadavers we developed a new research model for compartment syndrome in trauma and assessed the feasibility of the dissection technique in human anatomy. I am the project licence holder for the animal research which has involved refining the technique in sheep to assess its feasibility in living tissue and in particular in the presence of haemorrhage. 2. The influence of radiological deformity and frailty on outcome in geriatric distal radius fractures. A prospective study comparing radiological parameters, a validated measure of frailty and functional outcome scores in 250 patients at Vancouver General Hospital. 3. Fractures of the Radius: Radiological and Clinical Evaluation (FORRCE Trial). I am the Chief Investigator for this prospective randomised controlled trial. This trial is looking at the outcomes after the treatment of distal radius fractures with plates, k-wires and non-bridging external fixators. We aim to rectruit 500 patients over a 5 year period.
