Dear colleagues and friends! It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our educational multidisciplinary meeting on pancreatic diseases 2016, organised by the Department of Visceral-, Transplantation and Thoracic Surgery in Innsbruck together with my dear friend and surgical colleague David Fuks from Institute Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris. The idea for this type of educational meetings was born in 2013. I am proud to say, that we had three very succesfull multidisiplinary congresses the last years and are now very much looking forward to 2016, this time in the lovely city of Innsbruck. Diseases of the pancreas are usually complex, diagnosis as well as treatment should always be based on multidisciplinary discussion and decision making. Having different specialists on board is automatically causing different opinions, sometimes leading to confusion and even dissense. But especially these valuable discussions can be the seed for innovation and medical progress! We really hope you find the proposed scientific programme well, which is supported by the Austrian Society of Surgery, the Austrian Society of Surgical Oncology and joined by ESSO and the French hepatobiliary Society. We have international and national experts contributing to this special event and try to highlight several hot topics in the management of pancreatic diseases. Best wishes, Stefan Stättner It gives me immense pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 4th international collaborative meeting being held in the city of Innsbruck in December 2016. For the first time, Innsbruck meets France under the auspices of the French chapter of EAHPBA (named ACHBT). A combined faculty draws from the best of Austrian and French pancreatic expertise for an intensive 2 day congress of interest to all who manage pancreatic disorders. The programme covers all aspects of pancreatic disorders, from diagnosis to multidisciplinarity treatment and this meeting will be a new opportunity for international clinicians and researchers focused on pancreas research to review advances in the understanding of this pathology, present and discuss their clinical or translational research. At this meeting, participants will attend lectures, state of the art, clinical case presentation while actively participating in discussions. With the concern for an appropriation of new acquisitions with clear messages to take away. During the social programme and breaks with industry exhibition, there will be time to both exchange knowledge and also network socially. I do hope that you will be able to join us in what will be a productive interactive multidisciplinary meeting among colleagues and friends. Looking forward to seeing you, David Fuks
