The trainee is responsible for all inpatients admitted under the Rheumatology bedcard (rarely more than 2 per week) as well as inpatient consultations and rheumatology outpatient clinic (3 per week). The trainee also does a paediatric outpatient clinic once a week at the Womens and Childrens Hospital for 6 months and the Biologics Clinic at Repatriation General Hospital. The position is usually occupied for one year and trainees will then rotate to either Repatriation General Hospital or one of the other training positions in Adelaide (Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Royal Adelaide Hospital). The Rheumatology Unit at Flinders Medical Centre is closely aligned with the Immunology Unit and there is a strong laboratory and research base within the Immunology Unit which is available to the Advanced Trainee in Rheumatology.
