This is accomplished through a combination of county-operated services and contracted services with private not-for-profit corporations. County-operated services include Outpatient Clinics for adults and children, a Continuing Day Treatment program for adults and Case Management for adults and children. A Public School Outreach Program to several local schools providing on-site consultation and early intervention is operated through our children s clinic. Genesee County Mental Health also provides coordinated community mental health services through its Single Point of Access (SPOA) program. The contracted services are the Genesee Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse clinic and prevention programs, Mental Health Association of Genesee County (Social Club), NYSARC- Genesee Co. Chapter Vocational Services, the Restoration Society s ACE Employment Service and Regional Action Phone Crisis Hotline.

Acct. # 4321 DESCRIPTION The Mental Health Association in Genesee Co. promotes mental wellness through education, advocacy and support for our community, thereby improving quality of life and instilling hope. Our services include the following: The Place To Be Social Club, provides a safe environment for individuals with a diagnosed mental illness to gain social skills as well as have healthy social interaction. Activities include social outings, an Art Room and Gallery, Snack Shop, Kitchen, and Clothing Store. These activities and programs are designed to give individuals a chance to gain skills that will assist them in being productive community members. It also aids those that choose to return to the work environment with job readiness skills, such as preparing and serving food, taking inventory, purchasing, retail, and customer service to name a few. MICA/Trauma Services Programs, develops and implements services for trauma survivors as well as individuals in the community who are dually diagnosed with mental illness and chemical addiction. A strong community Task Force has been in place since 1997 and has worked together to identify community needs and establish ways to meet those needs. The MICA and Trauma programs provide support and advocacy for individuals in need as well as Life Bridges, MICA support group and Survivor of Suicide support group which are all open to the community. Evidence based trainings include the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Growing Beyond Survival and Wellness Self Management. Transportation is provided to our members without charge to meet their needs so they may live successfully and independently in the community. Transportation to appointments, social club, employment and shopping are a few ways this is achieved. Warm Line- The Warm Line program is well established and in its fourth year of operation. This program is a peer to peer, non-crisis telephone service that provides support and encouragement. It operates seven evenings per week, 365 days per year from 5:30-8:30 pm, when other supports are not available. Peer listeners are provided training opportunities as well as a stipend for a completed shift. Community Trainings / Support Groups- the MHA also provides educational trainings to the community on various topics, including Trauma, MICA, and mental illnesses. Acct. # 4323 DESCRIPTION: The Genesee ACE Employment Program is designed to prepare mental health consumers for employment through psychiatric rehabilitation readiness assessment, skills assessment and development, and individualized planning services. ACE develops supported employment positions in local businesses and assists in filling the positions with the ultimate goal of increased independent functioning, satisfaction and success. Participants are individuals diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness who have not been successful in utilizing other employment services, have had difficulty in maintaining independent, competitive employment, and demonstrate a desire and/or need for support in choosing, getting, and or keeping employment. This program is supported strongly by State Reinvestment Funding and involves no county tax dollars. The Peer Specialist Program at LeRoy Manor is designed to provide outreach and peer support to individuals with mental illnesses in a residential setting. The Peer Specialists assist in the development of self-advocacy skills, development of peer networks, educational and life skills groups and support groups. They serve as a role model and advocate in the areas of entitlements, empowerment, and daily living activities and accompany residents to medical appointments, shopping and other activities in the community. Acct. # 4313 DESCRIPTION: The Genesee Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA) operates four programs which provide behavioral health services: Outpatient Treatment, Residential Services, Prevention and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The main Outpatient Clinic is in Batavia, NY with Satellite offices in LeRoy and Indian Falls. Clinical treatment services are also offered to the jail, drug court, and probation clients. Specialized services are also offered applicants and clients of the Department of Social Services. Further specialized services are offered to women, adolescents and people struggling with concomitant psychiatric disorders. Additional Services are also available for people with nicotine and gambling addictions. The Atwater Community Residence is comprised of 17 beds for people in need of a halfway house for 3-6 months to support their substance abuse recovery. The Residential Services program also provides 24 supportive living beds in 5 different locations in Genesee County for people who need long term residential support of one year or longer. GCASA also operates a Crisis service providing 24hr. screening and referral on an as needed basis in the Emergency Room at nited Memorial Medical Center. GCASA provides a variety of prevention services which includes classroom education in county schools, as well as a Children of Alcoholics (COA) program for children who come from families where substance abuse is a problem, an alcohol and drug awareness program, server training, retail compliance checks and specialized programs to seniors, pregnant women, tobacco cessation and smoking prevention, gambling prevention and advocacy in a variety of settings and for healthy community living free of chemical abuse. GCASA also facilitates a nationally award winning Drug Free Community s Coalition whose purpose it is to lower the incidence and prevalence of substance abuse in the county as well as a New York State OASAS grant for a development and training Resource Center. GCASA s Employee Assistance Program has contracts with over 35 organizations and companies in the Genesee/Orleans/Wyoming County area which covers over 5,000 employees and their family members. This program provides counseling and consultation for personal, family, mental health and substance abuse problems to decrease work related problems such as absenteeism, poor performance, low morale and low productivity. (RAP) is a free, confidential, 24-hour Crisis/Suicide Intervention, Information and Referral Hotline. It is a safety net for individuals in need of resources, support or simply a listening ear. RAP provides a variety of important and valuable services which includes: Crisis Intervention: Develop strategies with callers that assist them in regaining their coping skills. Suicide Intervention & Prevention: Provide services (including presentations) that turn potentially dangerous situations into opportunities for personal growth and a renewed faith in living. Also provide support to family/friends who are concerned about the suicidal behavior of a loved one. Information & Referral: Link callers to over 2,000 Resources (i.e. Support Groups, Food Pantries, Transportation, Inpatient/Outpatient Programs, Food, Prescription, Rent & tility Assistance, Housing/Emergency Shelter, Counselors/Therapists, Mediation/Legal, Parenting Classes, etc.) RAP is the place to call when you don t know where to call. Emergency Assistance Clearinghouse: Provide a centralized database for local food pantries to eliminate duplication of services or abuse of the system. Assistance Relay Services: Connect callers with Alcoholics Anonymous & Al-Anon Contacts 24-hours a day and with a Salvation Army Representative for crisis housing, food & prescription situations that occur during after hours. Genesee/Orleans/Wyoming Community Services Directory: A reliable resource with 700+ Organizations, Agencies and Providers that serve Genesee, Orleans & Wyoming Counties. On-Call Services: Provide On-Call linkage to Genesee County Mental Health Services (After Hours), Rape Crisis Services of Genesee County (24-hours) & the YWCA Domestic Violence Program (24-hours). Also provide Safe House Call Checks to clients staying in the YWCA Domestic Violence Safe House. (Evenings & Weekends) MICA Support Line: Provide support/encouragement, resources and meeting information to dually diagnosed callers 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Tip-line: Provide an anonymous, confidential and toll-free number to call and report underage drinking parties or other activities that are harmful to the health, safety and/or welfare of young people 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. The hope that the economy was going to turn around has transitioned into feelings of hopelessness and despair. The number of individuals and families impacted by the struggling, unstable economy along with the domino effect has been on the rise with no relief in sight. The difficult choices and sacrifices no longer are enough to simply survive by making ends meet. As a result, life has become not only stressful but overwhelming causing a major impact on people in the community. Suicide, Depression, Substance Abuse, Gambling, Domestic Violence, Family Violence, Child Abuse and nderage Drinking has become coping skills causing devastating damage to marriages, families, relationships and individuals. RAP Listeners have noticed that the seriousness of call situations as well as caller needs have increased and intensified. It s because of these extremely tough times and the fallout from them that it is so important and necessary for Regional Action Phone, Inc. (RAP) to continue to be available to caller s 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Acct. # 4322 DESCRIPTION: The Genesee County Chapter NYSARC, Inc. provides a vast array of services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in Genesee County. Programs include Supported Work, Transportation, Vocational Case Management, Medicaid Service Coordination, Job Readiness Skills and Job Placement, a variety of Residential options as well as Family Support Services. The Vocational Program and services provide structured, intensively supervised work training and experience. Placements in real full-time competitive work situations are the final step in the continuum for some of the workers who graduate from the supportive work settings. Through these programs many individuals are able to increase their level of independence and live successfully in a community setting with the pride of having earned income. We are presently engaged in the development of entrepreneurial businesses and micro enterprises to assist in meeting the vocational goals for people of Genesee County who also have intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Supplemental funding from the County is critical to our ability to help these individuals develop employment skills with a final goal of achieving competitive employment in our community.
