Fundraising Ideas On April 6, invite your friends (and team!) to a CAMH One Brave Night party. You can host it at home, at work or just about anywhere, like a favourite venue. Ask your guests for a donation to take part in this night of fun. There are plenty of fun and exciting ways to take part in CAMH s One Brave Night for Mental Health challenge. Here are a few more suggestions. Party time Host a dinner party and ask your guests for donations in lieu of a host gift. Midnight stroll Do a walking tour of your city; the darkness offers a whole new perspective. Work it Fundraising at work can be great fun. Get the boss on board, then charge co-workers to dress casually or in pjs for the day. Or organize a board game tournament at lunch. Charge an entrance fee (donation) to play and you ll soon surpass your fundraising goal! Don t forget to ask your company to match donations made. 2 April 6, 2018 Fundraising Tool Kit

Ask for support. Charge for chores Do your friend s, family s, or roommate s chores in exchange for a donation. Sell your stuff online or on campus We all have great stuff we just don t need anymore. Your treasures can be someone else s for a donation toward your goal. Movie night Watch a movie or documentary that depicts mental illness and talk about it with your team. Or host a movie marathon and watch your favourite series on subscription TV. Book club Select a story about someone living with mental illness and ask your fellow book club members to donate at your discussion. Karaoke Ask for a donation to participate in a themed Karaoke night. Dress in attire from the 70s, 80s or 90s and pick songs to sing from that era. Let s talk tonight Call or Skype family and friends that live in different time zones. Catch up and ask for donations. Craft night Host a craft night and tackle a project from Pinterest. Get baking The bake sale is a popular choice for a reason no one can resist buttery, delicious treats. You ll have friends and co-workers lining up to give you their money. Video game tournament Have a video game tournament with friends (in-person or online). Cook off Host a cooking challenge. Ask participants to enroll with a donation. Pillow talk Bring back the sleepover movies, snacks, gossip and pranks! Wellness class Plan some mindfulness and self-care activities, like yoga, meditation, journaling or an essential oil workshop. Tea party Share your favourite teas and invite friends over to support you in your One Brave Night. Make sure to get a selfie of your group during your event and share it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #OneBraveNight. Here is some useful information to assist you in the weeks leading up to your CAMH One Brave Night for Mental Health challenge. 1. Access your Participant Centre Here you ll find tools to help you successfully ask for donations. 6. Get organized Create a timeline to ensure your fundraising event is well organized. Set dates for sending out invitations, making follow-up calls, booking suppliers, etc. 7. Be prepared to hear no Don t get discouraged. Say thanks anyway and move on to the next person on your list. 8. Team up Challenges are always more fun with friends. Invite others to join your team using the customizable emails available in your Participation Centre. 9. Get social Use social media to quickly let your network know you re taking the CAMH One Brave Night challenge. Ask for donations or, better yet, dare your friends to join the challenge! A little friendly competition is always fun. 10. Ask around Don t limit your fundraising to family and friends. Ask your boss, co-workers, teacher, neighbours and community to sponsor you, too. 11. 12. Be prepared Give yourself enough time to make sure everything can be done. Is your One Brave Night planned for indoors or outdoors? Do you have a Plan B if it rains and your event is scheduled for outdoors? 13. Give thanks Thank your supporters when they make a gift, and throughout your fundraising efforts. Reach a milestone? #OneBraveSelfie Bootcamp You ve worked hard to reach your fundraising goal and spent the night entertaining friends and likely thought of naps. Now it s time to celebrate with taking and posting your #OneBraveSelfie! Alone or with your team-your best selfie will capture these wonderful moments forever while you symbolically shine a light on mental illness and addiction. There s an art to taking a fabulous selfie. CAMH Foundation staffer Catelyn Brett has mastered it. Here are her tips to up your selfie-game. 1. Find your light Make sure there is a light source behind the camera for better image quality. Don t use your camera s flash if you can help it, and try to get the sunrise in your selfie. 2. Strike a pose! Take shots from several angles and perspectives to get your best photo. 3. Be yourself Be silly, use props. Get your pets and friends involved for a group selfie (a groupie ). The more people tagged in the photo, the more likely it will be seen and shared! 4. Extend your reach Use a selfie stick to get more people in your #Groupie. 5. Filters are your friend Experiment with filters on apps like Instagram to enhance the atmosphere of your photo. 11 April 6, 2018 Fundraising Tool Kit

6. Make your #OneBraveSelfie your own Create a collage or add some text or stickers using a free app like Photo Collage. Get creative! 7. Share, share, share!! Use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to show your family and friends what you have accomplished. You took the challenge to step up, stay up and inspire hope in support of those living with mental illness! Now that is a selfie worth sharing.
