Needs Continued progress in the basic and clinical sciences, therapeutics, technology, and surgery is leading to increased understanding and improved diagnosis and management of eye disorders. The purpose of this course is to update practicing ophthalmologists on the latest, clinically relevant advances in ophthalmology and to provide useful, evidence-based information on the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic disorders. Target Audience This course is designed for the practicing ophthalmologist and ophthalmologists in training. Objectives At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to: Identify the appropriate applications for the spectrum of low-add multifocal, presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses. Identify risk factors for capsule and zonular complications and implement management strategies to minimize their adverse effects and improve visual outcomes. Recognize the benefits and risks of alternative methods for medication delivery in the treatment of patients with glaucoma. Correctly employ the DRCR.net Protocol T guidelines for the use of anti-vegf medications in the management of diabetic retinopathy. Describe new strabismus surgical techniques that use smaller incisions. Describe the most appropriate methods for treating eye lid trauma. Accreditation/Credit Designation This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Baylor College of Medicine and The Cullen Eye Institute. Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
