Adolescents and youth More than 40% of the world s population are under the age of 24, which means that today, young people are shaping both humanity s present and future. *** UNFPA is committed to giving young people the opportunities to reach their fullest potential. We see this as a moral obligation as well as a social, economic and political necessity.

Teen pregnancy The issue of teen pregnancy lies at the intersection of all our core issues. *** UNFPA aims to empower girls so that they can avoid unintended pregnancies, child marriages, other harmful practices, sexual violence and lost opportunities for their own development. The impact of empowering girls now will be felt for generations to come.
