MINHA JORNADA COMO HOMEOPATA... E MÃE Por Maria Helena Rossi
I am a homeopath who treats people, especially children with atypical neurological development. The journey has been long, amazing and a great source self-knowledge. It has given me the deepest look into life. In my first graduation, as a physiotherapist, I had the opportunity to learn a little bit about neurological damage from my teachers. In life...my first daughter was born one year after my graduation and she had a neurological problem known as cerebral palsy. Some pressionals said to me at that time: In these cases, the science can help barely, almost nothing or, Put this child in a school, go back to your job and your life and resign yourself that she is going to be this way always. In my career I have heard many weird prognosis like: Unfortunately, this child will not survive more than few months. And then I was invited to the 15th birthday this child last year. Another prognosis: This child will be totally dependent, and now the child has graduated in civil engineering. There is no rule. Sometimes I have seen two children with the same medical exam results have completely different outcomes. I believe that the substantial difference in outcomes can be the love and faith that nurtures the relationship. Love heals. 2
I cannot accept any end point to the development my daughter and my little patients. Some people advised me that I was not accepting reality (unfortunately for some time it was really true and it was a difficult time). Others said I was stubborn. And they both could be right at some point. But all this effort has been recompensed during our lives. It was unforgettable to see her first steps alone when she was three and half years old. So much emotion the first time she could say to me: Mom, I am so happy to be here with you! and she was 7! She has developed in a beautiful way. And, in all the new ways she brings to life I can feel that everything we have done is every day flourishing. This was another great opportunity to learn. She had many difficulties to overcome. She was in my hands with too many things to understand. Love was our biggest tool, making more powerful any technique. 3
Following the delayed development, at 11 months old, the epileptic seizures came. This was a harsh time and homeopathy was our loyal partner. But in the beginning, it was not easy, mainly because I was not trained to understand, to realize and comprehend the health signals. It is very important to understand how the cure occurs. Many nice pressionals have been helping us: many had no experience with the seizures. She couldn t speak and she used to have many asthma crises. We had to use some different homeopathic remedies until we reached the harmony. The most important thing was to believe; otherwise we couldn t try again. It is wonderful when a child can feel that the family trusts the process recovery. I would like to thank my daughter s first pediatrician, who knew homeopathy and had enormous patience with us; and to my first homeopathy and acupuncture teacher and his family for everything they did to help us! Thank you very much! We are here because you were there! At 3 years old, my daughter was getting much better - her electroencephalogram was fully normal. Unfortunately, at the 3-year-old consultation, because she was having some asthma crises, the new pediatrician asked me to give her the flu vaccination that the OMS (World Health Organization in Brazil) recommended. At that time I didn t realize the potential adverse consequences a vaccine. Fifteen days later she began to have the worst kind epileptic seizures she had ever had, worse than before. And it lasted for one month, even with all efforts. Only many years later did I understand how the heavy metal contained in that shot was harmful for her brain. The neuro-pediatrician told me that nobody knows why some children can get worse after the 3 year old exam. It was amazing the difference between the electro-encephalogram in only 2 weeks! Now I know. And, it is never late to treat! We had to do a complex and long-term homeopathic treatment until she got a totally recovered electro-encephalogram again. I am treating her, year after year. Homeopathy is always bringing gifts to her life. Last year she got pneumonia during an aluminum detox course (it was incredible; after the first doses, she looked like she used to in her first 3 years...nose running, red and tearing eyes, swollen face, fever, cough); but after she recovered only with homeopathy, water, vitamins and love she got much more understanding. Her consciousness improved. Even more recovery. She is 21 years old now, and I only want her happiness; but there is the possibility to learn more, and her special school suggested that we should transfer her to a normal school next year. 4
At the same time some parents came to me for help with their children, then I learned more. Some years later I had the opportunity to study homeopathy...and a new world came to our life. My experience in the last years, working with children who have a diagnosis atypical neurological development and their families is the feeling that everybody has the possibility to improve. The experience treating autistic children and many other children (and adults) who are suffering from many kinds disabilities using homeopathy, including my lovely daughter is revealing wonderful news. Nothing can compare with the reward that comes with the experience walking beside a family who are taking care a child who is not fully developed...and looking forward to deciding which steps we should follow to reach the right way during the journey...celebrating each little progress...vibrating with each victory. Crying together with the losses, or when one them needs to go away. Who are the winners? In this journey I feel deep gratitude. I am sure, as a homeopath, I am the more blessed. 5
