Ewing Township Welcome Booklet Neighborhood Group Ewing Township Green Team

It was brought to the attention of the Green Team that a Welcome Booklet would be a valuable resource to both current and new residents of Ewing. The Green team agreed and decided to accept it as a project. To make this project successful we need input from as many sources as possible.

Overall Goal Develop a Welcome Booklet to be distributed to people interested in Ewing Township The booklet will ultimately be available thru the township website some printed copies will also be made available It is up to this group to decide how it should look

Original Idea This is one example or model Middletown Township : Welcome Guide as a model (http://www.middletownnj.org/) Found under resident tab is the Welcome Info. http://www.middletownnj.org/documentcenter/vi ew/348

Here are some other ideas we might consider Bordentown Website: http://www.bordentowntownship.com/# All information found as soon as you open the website West Windsor http://www.westwindsornj.org/ Located under tabs- interesting section on volunteer positions Lawrenceville school- fun way to say welcome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psehwxkpxhm City or Trenton http://www.visitnj.org/city/trenton This one is a tourism guide- Look at all the fun things to do

Topics to Include Some suggestions were made of topics to include These are listed on the handouts provided This list in by no means complete I am sure there are plenty of things we have forgotten I felt that all the suggestions were great- I just needed to think about how to put them together is a organized format

Organization of Information Looking at the spread sheets I provided, you will see numbers in three columns following each item from the suggestion list. These numbers represent my way of organizing the list I looked at the topics from three perspectives General Categories Who would be responsible to provide the service or might have the information From the perspective of chapters in a book

Organization of Information (1) First rated the suggestions from the perspective of general categories These categories were (1-5 &11) 1- Township Services 2-Community Activities 3-Community Services 4-History 5-School 11- Background Information My ratings are in the first column labeled Major Categories

Organization of Information (2) I then looked at the suggestions from the perspective of who is responsible or had the information These categories were (6-13) 6- county 7- township 8-state 9-private 10- other 11- background information-? 12- historical society 13- blank (left if need space later) These ratings were found in the second column

Organization of Information (3) Finally I looked at the suggestions from the perspective of chapters/sections in the Welcome book and again rated them. These categories were (14-19) 14-Introduction Materials General information about Ewing in general 15- Information about various committees or boards This includes meeting dates and times 16-Government Form of government Voting, meetings, mayors message

Organization of Information (4) 17-Township Services Like trash and recycling, license information 18- Things to do in Ewing Recreation, arts, groups 19- Historical information These ratings are found in the third column
