42 nd Street currently supports young people aged 11 25 across Manchester, Trafford, Salford and Tameside. Out vision is to support young people under stress to achieve their full potential. Our unique menu of services are free and confidential. They include counselling and therapy sessions, individual support, youth work and an arts and cultural programme. We also offer young people group work sessions and drop-ins and real opportunities to help shape our service and have a voice. working in manchester, Trafford, salford & tameside 42 nd Street offers services to young people across these areas. Some services are targeted at specific areas or particular groups of young people. In Manchester, Trafford and Salford we offer individual therapeutic support in a range of community based venues for young people aged 13 25 years. We also deliver community based group work with partners across Manchester, Trafford and Salford based on the needs of specific groups and areas. All young people aged 13 25 across Manchester, Trafford and Salford can also come to 42 nd Street s purpose built, award winning building, The Space, on Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, where we run our full range of one to one and group work opportunities. Tameside 42 nd Street also works in partnership with the Tameside and Glossop Young People s Mental Health Team which provides a service for young people 16 19 who are experiencing significant disruption in their lives as a result of their mental health needs. Work in schools For many years 42 nd Street has provided individual support, counselling and group work in a range of high schools/ academies across Greater Manchester. 42 nd street provides A RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDING: Mental health needs assessment Counselling and therapy Individual community mental health support Group work including a weekly drop-in, a regular tackling depression group and a weekly young women s group A referral and help line Youth work and arts and cultural programmes designed to improve young people s skills and confidence Participation and leadership opportunities for young people using the service Expertise in work with issues of self-harm and attempted suicide Advocacy Referrals: 42 nd street will take referrals directly from young people or from family, friends and other agencies. We will only accept referrals where the young person concerned is aware that the referral is being made. Young people referred will normally be offered an initial assessment appointment to determine what kind of support is going to be most effective. This includes an assessment of relevant risk issues. While 42 nd street works with many young people who are self-harming or at risk of suicide we are not a crisis service. If a young person is at immediate risk assistance should be sought from their GP, A&E or relevant mental health crisis service. Referrals can be made via the helpline or completed referral forms can be submitted by fax or post. Referral forms are available to download from the website

PROJECTS MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT TO YOUNG PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES The project offers: - 1:1 support with a specialist worker - Group work - Opportunities to meet other young people INSIDE OUT The Inside Out project offers support to young people from Manchester who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their gender or sexuality. Advice, individual support and occasional groups are provided. THE WOMEN S GROUP Open to all young women 16 and over. A women only group that meets every Wednesday 4 6pm at 42 nd Street. Arts, crafts, discussions. CREATIVE PROGRAMME We offer opportunities for young people take part in creative projects throughout the year, both at 42nd Street and in community venues and always working alongside top professionals from their fields. Our projects span all art forms from photography to DJing and we ve even made jam. WE TELL YOU 42 nd Street and Hideaway s young Black men s wellbeing project for those who are 14 and over. In addition to group work, the project enables young people to access training in peer research and participate in a research project exploring the view of Black young men in relation to accessing services. YOUTH WORK 42 nd Street s outreach project offers young people the opportunity to participate in workshops or a group project engaging with a diverse range of emotional wellbeing themes. Sessions are rooted in young people s needs and interests and use creative, arts and activity based approaches to explore the themes identified by the group. THE SOMEBODY PROJECT A Manchester based project for 13 19s. A series of 6-session workshops exploring body image and self-esteem. SERVICE INFO EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY We recognise that people are treated unfairly in our society in relation to gender, race, disability, age and sexuality. We aim to provide a service that treats people fairly and meets the diverse needs of the community. CHOICE OF WORKER Where possible young people can choose to see a male or female worker. There are dedicated projects for young disabled people and lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans youth with some capacity to offer dedicated support to South Asian young women. ACCESSIBILITY We aim to provide an accessible service to disabled young people. The building has a lift and our space is accessible to wheelchair users. If a young person has access needs, requires support to attend or would like information in a different format please contact our Admin team or a field worker via the Helpline. WAITING TIMES Due to a high demand for our services young people may have to go on a waiting list for an initial appointment and for some of our services. For information on waiting times and the support we can offer immediately please call the Helpline. OPENING TIMES 42 nd Street is open week days. The core hours are 9:30am 5pm. Evening appointments are available (last appointment 6:00pm) and many of the groups and drop-ins run in the evening. CONFIDENTIALITY We offer a confidential service for young people. We will not pass on information that a young person shares with us without their permission unless they or someone else is at risk. PARTNERSHIP AND NETWORKING 42 nd Street works in partnership with a wide variety of statutory and voluntary organisations in delivering the service to young people including mental health services, youth services and schools.

Recent delivery has included: - Self-harm awareness - Attachment issues - Working creatively with children and young people - Brief solution focused approaches - Supporting the mental health needs of LGBTQ young people - Introduction to solution focused therapeutic approaches 42 nd Street is able to deliver bespoke training which reflects the learning and development needs of your team. ROOM HIRE 42 nd Street has a meeting/training space which is available for hire. This space is accessible and can accommodate up to 20 people.
