Orthospec ESWT - Extracorporeal Shock WaveTherapy TM There are many things in life that seemed impossible to us. For example walking on the moon; or getting from London to Paris in just an hour; or talking on the phone away from home; or even the phone itself; or curing chronic diseases. Yes, sometimes it s difficult to imagine... Orthospec TM is one of those things that makes the impossible seem simple. Chronic orthopedic conditions can be treated now, With Orthospec. TM

Orthospec makes the impossible simple TM Orthospec TM is an Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) system. It is the ultimate solution for chronic orthopedic indications. When other therapies such as corticosteroids and conventional physiotherapy fail, Orthospec TM provides highly efficient results; it is a safe, non-invasive and rapid non-surgical method for treating resistant or non-responsive orthopedic injuries, as well as chronic inflammations, reducing pain and increasing function level dramatically. With its unique extremely wide focal zone, the high energy of the shockwave proportionally propagates to the treated area, making the treatment considerably more comfortable with no need of anesthesia. Multiple applications: Shoulder Tendinosis (with or without calcification) Shoulder Bursitis Lateral & Medial Epicondylitis Patellar Tendonitis Trochanteric Bursitis Achilles Tendonitis Plantar Fasciitis (with or without Heel Spur) Non-union fractures Pseudoarthrosis Avascular Necrosis

ESWT - Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy for orthopedic applications Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been used in medicine since the 80 s and has since expanded across disciplines with its application continuing to grow. ESWT has demonstrated to be an effective treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and inflammations, managed to treat cases where conventional methods have failed. Since the 90 s, extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been applied in orthopedic medicine with highly successful results, its application has expanded into sports medicine, pain management, cardiology, erectile dysfunction, chronic wound and ulcer management as well as aesthetic medicine. ESWT uses acoustic waves to induce biochemical intracellular responses that release growth factors leading to tissue healing. After extensive theoretical expertise and practical experience in the field of shock wave therapy, Medispec created one of its masterpieces, one of the most significant devices in the orthopedic field, the Orthospec TM based on ESWT. Orthospec TM was approved by the FDA* in 2005, treating successfully chronic indications that were unapproachable before. ESWT - up to 90% success rate on chronic indications! *For Plantar Fasciitis

How Orthospec TM works Shock waves are applied directly onto the pain source. Extracorporeal shock waves act physically on the tissue and induce multiple favorable biological effects: Acute inflammatory reaction on the chronic inflammation - acute on chronic Vasodilation, increased blood flow and oxygen supply in the inflammatory tissue Induction of angiogenetic factors leading to neovascularization Tissue healing Fragmentation of calcium deposits into crumbs subsequently absorbed into the tissue Differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into bone forming cells which leads to bone restoration and fracture healing Analgesic effect The treatment protocol varies between one to several sessions, depending on patient s condition, the severity of the pathology and the individual healing rate. An outpatient procedure lasts up to 20-30 minutes. Orthospec TM superiority Unique extremely wide focal zone in the industry, providing Deep penetration (down to 134mm) No anesthesia or imaging required High energy intensity distributed over the therapeutic zone, granting a high treatment success rate Comfortable treatment Short treatment time FDA approved* *for Plantar Fasciitis

Testimonials I was one of the first persons to be treated with shockwaves in 2002 and my insurance company paid for my treatments after my orthopaedic surgeon made an application for me. Both my feet were killing me and nothing helped after 18 months of treatments. ESWT helped me recover within a few weeks and I have been pain free since then. I recommend ESWT to all my friends. Linda Mangum, Auckland* ESWT did help resolve both me and my wife s Achilles injuries, and I would recommend it when other methods have failed. Dr. Matt Brick - Orthopaedic Surgeon, North Shore* I suffered from tennis elbow for many years. I was on pain medication daily. I was recommended ESWT by a doctor. It s now over 5 years since my treatment and I am free of pain medications. Whenever I have a patient who is not responding to therapy, I would refer them for ESWT. Merryl Koppen, Senior Physiotherapist* I received ESWT several years ago for an injury that kept me from competing in marathons after several sessions I was able to recommence training and was able to compete in the Dublin Marathon. I finished the race in 9th position. ESWT helped with my recovery. Marnie Oberer, Marathon Runner* *used with permission of Kompass Health Associates, New Zealand I am writing to let you know the results of treating my own Plantar Fasciitis. Rather to my surprise, the condition does seem to have improved since the treatment although it has not gone altogether. This is in despite my giving it no rest at all if anything I have done more running and also a fair amount of walking over rough terrain. It is a shame there are no machines in my area as perhaps a second treatment would be sufficient to settle the condition, as your brochure suggests. I will pass on my own experience to the local therapists. Dr. David Knott, UK (treated at Leads conference 2002) Clinical studies Orthospec high energy treatment (0.28 mj/mm²) which was performed without imaging and tolerated without local anesthesia, yields a significant short term clinical improvement (1 week after treatment) compared to very low energy ESWT. This improvement is maintained during the 7 months follow-up. National Congress for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pleiner et al, Austria 2000 Orthospec was both efficacious and safe for the treatment of chronic proximal plantar fasciitis that had been unresponsive to exhaustive conservative treatment. Results of a randomized, placebo controlled, double blinded, multi-center Intervention trial, Malay et al, USA 2005 Bipartite Patella and Non-Ossifying Fibroma went into initial resolution within a period of 6 to 8 months and resolved completely in about 14 months, after Orthospec treatment. Branes et al, ISMST 2007
