LIVER CANDIDA DETOX The following are food guidelines for this two-part detox kit. Please be advised that you should keep a food and mood journal to analyze if you have any physical or emotional reactions (please refer to the Before You Begin Guide for more on that). Please note that under these do s and don ts I ve highlighted what is and is not acceptable for the candida portion of this detox. Please make sure you print this out and post this on your fridge for easy access.
LIVER CANDIDA DETOX ANIMAL PROTEIN DO - Chicken, fish, turkey. DON T Beef, or lamb The reasoning: we want to keep the animal proteins light for this detox. Protein however is needed for the liver to get itself into metabolic action. Make sure you are not grilling or frying your meats however. You can bake, roast or poach your meats in the parchment paper method (see the recipe book for more) DAIRY DON T Cow, sheep or goat cheese. This also means no kefir or Greek Yogurt either. Avoid whey protein as well. No soymilk or rice milk. DO Coconut milk, seed milks (like hemp milk) and nut milks. Make sure that all of these alternative milks are unsweetened since the sweetened variety can have up to 10g of sugar per cup! The reasoning: Dairy creates mucous in the digestive system so we want to remove any dampness so that the liver can work at its best and that elimination is happening up to 2x daily. GRAINS DON T Gluten grains: Oats, barley, wheat, kamut, spelt or rye. DO Gluten-free grains: But only in moderation (this means a couple times per week at best). *Please note that you are to avoid all grains during the candida portion of this protocol. The reasoning: Liver and candida cleanse requires lighter foods and a diet too high in grains can actually create a fatty liver. So we really want to reduce them dramatically or remove them altogether. Those with extreme adrenal fatigue or thyroid conditions will want to have a small amount of grains 2-3x per week and keep it to less than 25% of one given meal.
LIVER CANDIDA DETOX VEGETABLES DON T Starchy type veggies like potatoes of any kind, squash or turnip. DO Carrots occasionally, *radishes, all *leafy greens, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, onions, garlic, **tomatoes, **peppers, **mushrooms *According to Chinese Medicine, radishes are especially great for those suffering with candida since they have a slight bitter property. **If you are sensitive to nightshade vegetables please omit these. Some people with inflammatory issues can react poorly to this, so test yourself to see if you have a reaction. When testing, it s best to consume the food in isolation for 3-4 days to see if your symptoms worsen. GREEN & BLUE-GREEN ALGAES These include: Chlorella green algae E3Live Blue-green algae Spirulina Blue-green algae All are excellent for this cleanse however E3Live is the best for candida since it has a slight bitter property acting as an astringent. FRUITS DON T Bananas, all melons, pineapple, peaches, apricots, plums, **dates DO Berries (1 serving per day max). Lemons or lime can be had liberally. *Apples, *pears, *papaya *Suitable for the liver cleanser portion of the program only. ***This can be had as a treat once a week during the liver cleanse only. Have one or two at most. There is also a recipe for the Key Lime Tarts in the book that includes dates in the crust. NUTS & SEEDS All nuts and seeds can be had during this cleanse. However, it is preferred that you soak them and dry them in your oven on low so that they re easier to digest.
LIVER CANDIDA DETOX LEGUMES The only ones that are allowed are during the liver portion of this cleanse they include: adzuki, mung beans and chickpeas. Please note however, if you are vegetarian you are to keep this to no more than 25% of your plate at most. FATS DO Olive oil, Coconut oil, avocado oil, grapseed oil, ghee, organic butter DON T Margarine, canola oil or any other vegetable oils VINEGAR Vinegar is accepted during this detox however some people with severe candida will react to it. Vinegars that I enjoy are the Acropolis Balsamic Vinegar and Unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar. KOMBUCHA I realize that many people love kombucha and so do I! If you are going to have it limit it to just the liver cleanse only and have it as a treat (meaning one or two a week). Make sure you look for a kombucha that has no more than 4g of sugar per serving. *Olive oil and coconut oil These are especially helpful due to their candida-fighting properties. Remember not to fear fat as fat does not make the liver fat, sugar does. Coconut oil especially is burned off as energy rather by the liver than stored as fat.
