IT S TIME TO FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL SPORTS COURSES GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH Continued investment in sports facilities including a Fitness Suite at our Hagley Road Centre, as well as recently purchasing pitches, playing fields and a golf driving range in Kidderminster, means that sports courses at Stourbridge College are going from strength to strength. We re now creating a new Centre of Sporting Excellence in partnership with local community sports organisations, offering a range of new Sports Academies which are designed to bridge the gap between community sports and education. The unique partnerships mean that students study for sport related academic courses as well as developing their sporting skills with professional, qualified and experienced coaches across all academies with the opportunity to take part in local, regional and national competitions. KICK OFF YOUR FUTURE FOOTBALL ACADEMIES On the Ball as Football Academies Kick Off The Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy kicked off to a great start last year with over 200 hopefuls taking part in the selection process, 70 of whom were chosen for the Football Academy. your hopes your dreams Students will study in newly refurbished classrooms at Stourbridge College s Centre of Sporting Excellence, Brintons Field in Kidderminster and will train four times a week on the same pitches as Kidderminster Harriers First Team as well as competing in a number of leagues including the Conference Youth League, the Midweek Floodlit League and British Colleges Sport League. Our Goal for September 2012 Female Football Academy Over a million women and girls play football regularly up and down the country and over 22,000 females have successfully attained FA Coaching Qualifications in the past few years. Facilities include six football pitches, two rugby pitches, a trophy pitch, a golf driving range and a strength and conditioning gym. We also have use of partner community sports facilities including local golf, boxing and rugby clubs. Fitness Suite Gets Going As part of a 1m refurbishment programme, a brand new fully equipped Fitness Suite has been opened at the Hagley Road Centre. Job Shops Our two Job Shops based at Hagley Road Centre and the Advanced Technology Centre, cover lots of ways to help you find work and improve your employability skills. We can help you with job search assistance, work experience, volunteering, employability courses and support with apprenticeships. Additional Learning Support Our Additional Learning Support team can offer you a Dyslexia Screening Test which will identify if you have additional needs related to problems with processing language. For students that might need some extra help with their studies, we have a team on hand who can help with organising class support, additional study skills support either one to one or in small groups.
