Welcome: Ruth Warick determined that there were 13 members present at the AGM which met the quorum of 7 required members. The meeting was called to order at 12:20 AM by Ruth. 2. Moved by Shirley Coomber; Seconded by Miron Gazda; Carried. 4. President s Report: Issues and Programs CHHA Vancouver 2013-14 Annual Report: Highlights The most important event offered during 2013-14 was the Hearing-aid Forum on April 26 th. It was organized in conjunction with CHHA BC and CHHA - North Shore Branch. Approximately 100 people attended. Links to a video of the forum is available for viewing at http://chha-bc.org/ There was a multidisciplinary panel of representatives, including a hearing-aid dispenser, a manufacturer, a BC government representative, and the register of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals. Recommendations from the event related to affordable hearing aids for Canadians were forwarded to a number of key Ministries, Associations, and professional

Colleges. The second event of the year was a tour and a presentation given by Janet Weil, the Executive Director of the Children's Hearing and Speech Centre. In June, CHHA Vancouver members were encouraged to attend CHHA BC s World Café. Several members also attended the CHHA National conference held in Toronto. We continued to have active Facebook and Twitter accounts, and a website, thanks to Susan Zager. Report respectfully submitted on November 15, 2014 Ruth Warick on behalf of CHHA Vancouver Branch Executive (full copy attached) The report was accepted as presented. Moved by Ruth Warick; Seconded by Norah McKellin; Carried. 5. Treasurer's Report: Financial Statement attached. Miron overviewed the report noting that revenue generated during the year was $2,803.70 and expenditures were $7,773.46 with the amount on hand being $4,969.76. There were no questions from the members. The report was accepted as presented. Moved by Miron Gazda; Seconded by Shirley Coomber; Carried. 6. Membership Report: Miron reported that as of the AGM, CHHA Vancouver has 18 members. Ruth noted that we need to expand membership. 7. Membership Fees: Membership fees will remain on a status quo basis for 2014-2015 ($10). Moved by Norah McKellin; seconded by Marilyn Dahl; Carried. Miron reminded the group to renew their memberships for if they hadn t already done so. 8. Walk2Hear Report (Full report attached): In 2013 CHHA - Vancouver did not realize a sufficient financial return from the Walk2Hear. However, it was decided that we would go ahead with the 2014 event to promote comradery within the community. The 2014 event was a success with over 100 people participating, and the Walk raised $10,600. Note: 50% of this amount is shared with CHHA National per a signed agreement. Sponsors included Accurate Realtime Reporting, Advanced Bionics and Air Canada. The Branch developed a brochure on the impact of noise on hearing, and that brochure is available for distribution. Some of the raised funds

will be used for a Noise Prevention event during 2015. The organizing committee has committed to a fifth annual Walk2Hear in 2015. The report was accepted as presented. Moved by Ruth Warrick; Seconded by Edith Baranyay; Carried 9. Motion to elect a Member-at-large Elissa Robb was nominated for a Member at Large position on the CHHA Vancouver Board for a one year term. Moved by Shirley Coomber; Seconded by Miron Gazda; Carried 10. New business Appointment of an Auditor: Ruth noted that CRA no longer requires an independent audit because CHHA Vancouver s budget is too small to warrant one. It was recommended that the Branch forgo an external auditor. Moved by Miron Gazda; Seconded by Hugh Hetherington; Carried. Discussion followed that the members would like to meet more often during 2015 and Ruth said she would take this forward to the Executive. Tim Archer enquired about how they could re-vitalize the CHHA Victoria Branch. Marilyn Dahl said she would take the issue forward to CHHA BC for discussion. 11. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 PM. Moved by Miron Gazda; seconded by Norah McKellin; Carried.
