100 EXTERIOR FRONT DOOR BLCK OUT TPE INSTLLTION The procedure descried elow is for the LH side. Use the sme procedure for oth the RH nd LH sides, unless otherwise specified. 1. INSTLL NO. 2 BLCK OUT TPE () ppliction precutions. (1) ppliction temperture. 1. If the temperture is elow 15 C (59 F), using n infrred light, het the se (ody ttchment surfce) nd lck out tpe up to etween 20 nd 30 C (68 nd 86 F). If the temperture is over 35 C (95 F), perform the opertion fter lowering the temperture to elow 35 C (95 F). The most suitle temperture for pplying the lck out tpe is 25 C (77 F). The lck out tpe cnnot e pplied correctly t low tempertures due to its stiffness nd wek dhesion. The tpe loses its consistency t high temperture. (2) Pre-ppliction procedure. 1. ny uneven twisting or dust on the se (ody ttchment surfce) cuses defective ppernce due to ir eing trpped under the lck out tpe during ppliction. Mke sure there is no uneven twisting or dust on or round the se or lck out When the ir is dry in winter, put crdord etween the pieces of lck out tpe nd keep it in dry flt plce. (3) Hndling. 1. Keep the lck out tpe in dry flt level plce ecuse it is esily deformed. Do not fold, end or expose the tpe to high tempertures. (4) ppliction method (Method of squeegee opertion nd ppliction for generl portions). The positioning ccurcy must e within 1 mm (0.039 in.) when strting the ppliction, otherwise, poor ppernce nd dhesion will result. Do not reuse lck out tpe tht hs een removed. It cuses deformtion nd wek dhesion.
EXTERIOR FRONT DOOR BLCK OUT TPE 101 1. In order to suppress ule formtion, slightly rise the portion not eing pressed y the squeegee wy from the se. Tilt the squeegee etween 40 nd 50 (in the pushing direction) nd etween 30 nd 45 (in the pulling direction), nd pply 20 to 30 N (2 to 3 kg, 4 to 6 l) of pressure t velocity of 3 to 7 cm/sec. while pushing out the ir. Pushing Direction: 40 to 50 3 to 7 cm/sec. Squeegee Blck Out Tpe 10 to 20 mm (0.394 to 0.787 in.) Bcking Pper Pulling Direction: 3 to 7 cm/sec. 10 to 20 mm (0.394 to 0.787 in.) Squeegee Blck Out Tpe 30 to 45 Bcking Pper B114637E01 While using the squeegee, do not chnge the speed, stop the opertion or chnge the force of the ppliction. Doing so could cuse strek cross the surfce of the lck out tpe clled shock line. While using the squeegee, keep the speed nd force of ppliction constnt nd the ngle correct.
102 EXTERIOR FRONT DOOR BLCK OUT TPE 2 3 Squeegee Hemming Portion 1 B108310E01 () The squeegee cn e tilted in either the pushing direction or in the pulling direction ginst the ttchment portion. Perform the procedure while peeling the cking pper off the lck out tpe, 10 to 20 mm (0.394 to 0.787 in.) from the end of the squeegee. (5) ppliction method (Method of squeegee opertion). 1. If the tpe cnnot e pressed in one step using the squeegee, perform the ppliction in severl steps. Using your finger or thicker prt of the squeegee, grdully pply the tpe to the smll R portion of the hemming portion in 2 or 3 steps. Peel off the cking pper t the hemming portion nd pply the lck out tpe with your finger or thicker prt of the squeegee. (6) ppliction method (Method of squeegee opertion nd ppliction method for corner sections). 1. Crefully pply the tpe using finger fter peeling the cking pper off the corner section. 2. In order to prevent ppernce deteriortion cused y the tpe pin ngle, turn in the tpe t the corner fter heting the lck out tpe with dryer. (7) Inspection. 1. Repet the ppliction using new lck out Do not use needle to rectify ules in ny glzed tpe eing pplied to the outer pnel, in order to mke scrtches virtully imperceptile. Use n instnt dhesive if the hemming or corner portions of the lck out tpe re prtilly peeled off. Clen the ttchment surfce (Using n infrred light). (1) Using n infrred light, het ny lck out tpe nd dhesive remining on the ody. CUTION: Do not urn yourself with the heted ody or infrred light. (2) Using shop rg or piece of cloth, ru the remining lck out tpe nd dhesive off the ody. (3) Using non-residue solvent, clen the ttchment surfce.

Use n electric drill of which the no-lod opertion is 2,000 to 3,000 r/min. (2) Using tpe removl disc, ru the remining lck out tpe nd dhesive off the ody. Wer protective glsses during the opertion. Rotte nd operte the disc in the correct direction. Visully check tht the cutting portion is not dmged while ruing the remining lck out tpe nd dhesive off the ody. (3) Using non-residue solvent, clen the ttchment surfce. pply new No. 2 lck out tpe to the positions shown in the illustrtion.
