MMO 6000 Revolutionary Intelligence
The Challenges of Immobility Immobility is a common pathway by which a host of diseases and problems in the elderly produce further disability. Patients who are chronically ill, aged or disabled are particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of prolonged bed rest. It is well documented that early rehabilitation and out-ofbed activity will improve patient s outcomes. Complications of immobility are known to significantly increase patients length of stay in hospital with large associated costs to the NHS. Patients who are immobile can quickly develop complications such as pneumonia or UTI, impacting negatively on both length of stay in hospital and overall outcome. As the population of patients get older and more vulnerable, early mobilisation becomes more challenging. These challenges are often further compounded for some patients, particularly those who are unable to mobilise from the side of the bed e.g. hip replacement, abdominal surgery, stroke, neurological problems or pain. The intelligent design of the MMO 6000 combines safe and intelligent mobilisation with falls reduction management and so offers significant clinical, patient and caregiver benefits when compared to other beds on the market. Safe and Effective Patient Mobilisation Sitting the patient up To prevent nosocomial infections it is important that the patient is mobilised both in the bed and out of the bed. It is well documented that head of bed positioning will prevent nosocomial pneumonia, therefore achieving the correct head of bed angle is vital. The MMO 6000 incorporates a Safe Stop backrest positioning feature, eliminating the need for guesswork or bending to check angle indicators. The backrest will automatically pause at the two most clinically beneficial positions of 30 of head elevation, allowing greater residual capacity of the lungs and therefore improving oxygenation levels. It will also enhance the well-being of a patient who is recovering after surgery or someone who has been very ill 45 of head elevation, a semi-recumbent position that enhances respiratory function, well-being and promotes the feeling of progress in mobilisation for the patient The backrest also lengthens as it articulates to a maximum of 70, extending the platform by 12cm. This accommodates a semirecumbent then sitting position without pushing the patient forward. It will also prevent slipping or sliding down the bed. This maintains position and enhances comfort as well as safety and will reduce the risk of tissue damage from shear forces in this vulnerable group of patients Progression to the inner chair position Every patient, no matter what age or clinical condition will benefit from mobilisation into a chair. The MMO 6000 s intelligent platform progresses the bed into a chair as the patient is gently moved up and then forward. The motion pauses once the chair position is achieved This inner chair position is a very important part of any patient s progress when mobilising. Often in busy clinical settings there are not enough nurses to assist patients to get out of bed and into a chair, or there are simply not enough chairs. This stage of mobilisation is a key part of recovery; the earlier this is achieved the earlier patients will stand, then walk. This has an obvious benefit for well-being, patient psychology and earlier discharge from hospital Lowering the patient s feet to the floor From the inner chair position, the MMO 6000 gently lowers the bed forward until the patient s feet are safely on the floor This entire process has been achieved using only one button on the hand control
Safe and supported standing By operating the height adjustment button, the easy-up function allows safe aided standing to enable an effortless standing position. The split side rail design will follow the patient until the standing position is achieved and the patient takes hold of a mobilisation aid which will be positioned in front of the bed Additional features & benefits of the MMO 6000 The MMO 6000 also offers a platform that is low enough to allow mobilisation from the side without the risk of falls The bed can be positioned at the appropriate height for the mobilisation of every patient Is capable of achieving a low sleep deck height of just 31cm. This ensures that should a patient fall from the bed, the potential for injury is significantly reduced The bed can also be pre-set to achieve a custom height position suitable for the individual patient s height, further enhancing safety Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg have an automatic back to flat feature that removes guesswork, the need for angle indicators and unnecessary bending for caregivers The higher-than-normal maximum height ensures caregivers can adopt good posture during care procedures The plastic head and footboards are extremely simple to remove without tools Integrated AeroSpacer Support Surface AeroSpacer is a revolutionary new reactive therapeutic support system comprising 3D spacer textiles, which are shown to be superior to foam in assisting the prevention and treatment of moisture lesions and pressure ulcers and improving a patient s microclimate and comfort levels. AeroSpacer Actively manages microclimate by reducing temperature, moisture and humidity at the skin/ surface interface 1 Provides effective pressure redistribution by effectively displacing load therefore maximising immersion and envelopment 1 Absorbs external and internal shear strain, reducing tissue distortion over bony prominences 1 The integrated AeroSpacer surface provides very high levels of protection and comfort for those patients who are starting to mobilise and moulds perfectly to the articulation of the MMO 6000. Platform technology across the range The MMO range of electric profiling beds incorporate platform technology with common functionality and controls. This delivers benefits for caregivers in terms of reducing the risks associated with medical device use through simplicity, familiarity and more standardised training. It can also deliver benefits in terms of reduced maintenance costs and down-time. The manual CPR function can be operated by an easily accessible lever on either side of the backrest, and lowers with a dampened movement. Electric CPR is also available as standard and can also be activated via the handset The intuitive five-function hand control is simple to operate and encourages patient independence. Functions may be locked-out as required. A patient handset and a caregiver control panel are available as options
Create a safe environment that encourages independent mobilisation The backrest automatically pauses at the Safe Stop head of bed angles of 30 and 45, ensuring effective patient positioning for improved respiratory function and removing the need for guesswork. The backrest regresses as it lifts to 70, lengthening the platform by 12cm, which reduces slipping thus reducing shear and friction and maximising comfort. A chair position can be easily achieved using one button. Manual adjustment of the calf section can enhance this position. This is an important first step towards early mobilisation. The inner chair position is a very important part of any patient s progress when mobilising. This stage of mobilisation is a key part of recovery; the earlier this is achieved the earlier patients will stand, then walk. From the inner chair position, the MMO 6000 gently lowers the bed forward until the patient s feet are safely on the floor. By operating the height adjustment button, the easy-up function allows safe aided standing to allow an effortless standing position. The split side rail design will follow the patient until the standing position is achieved.
Simple and easy to use Standardised controls across the entire MMO range promotes familiarity and assist with caregiver training. The intuitive fivefunction hand control is simple to operate and encourages patient independence. Functions may be locked-out as required. A patient handset and caregiver control are available as options. Patient handset (top) and caregiver control panel (bottom) available as options. Easy to use bilateral, manual CPR function in addition to electric option. 100mm x eight castor design ensures smooth and easy movement of the bed even over uneven surfaces. Excellent access for all designs of hoist.
