Learning Objectives To understand the science behind and clinical utility of treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other major retinal disorders To interpret the results of established and novel retinal diagnostic tests such as optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography and electrophysiology for common retinal conditions To recognize important life or vision threatening retinal disorders and how they are managed to optimize outcomes To understand the indications, contraindications, and complications of retinal surgery for retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, ocular trauma, and vitreomacular diseases To be familiar with new and emerging treatments for the most common retinal conditions including macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Maintenance of certification: This event is an accredited group learning activity under Section 1, as defined by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada for the maintenance of certification program.
