Very sweet Christmas story By James Fessenden I've loved everything I've read from Eli Easton, but I have to say this is my new favorite. It's a very sweet GFY (sort of -- more like someone realizing that he's been in denial about his bisexuality) combined with Christmas, both of which I love. The relationship between Mick and Fielding is adorable. Long before there is any sexual tension between them, Mick takes his new genius housemate under his wing and begins to care for him, recognizing how helpless Fielding is, after being sheltered by his parents his entire life. Mick begins to prepare healthy meals for him and get Fielding to join him on his morning runs to get some exercise. They have movie marathons of films Fielding has never been allowed to watch, like the Star Wars movies. So it's only natural that Fielding turn to Mick when he wants to learn about kissing. Well, sort of. I hesitate to predict what other readers will like, but I think this story might really appeal to those who enjoyed Superhero -- there is that same sense of a more athletic, popular character taking his best friend under his wing, protecting him and eventually coming to love him as more than just a friend. I really loved this one. I can't recommend it enough.

Told from Mick's POV we see Fielding, an isolated brilliant geek genius, transforming in front of our eyes. He hasn't done much in his life--his mother is controlling and wanted Fielding to achieve academically and up until now he hasn't had freedom. Then Mick happens in his life. Kind of a gay for you story, until you read more and realise that Eli is cleverly filling in back story. Highly recommended, and a good solid length story. 5/5, the writing is excellent and the story of the geek and the jock is perfect! 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A rating... By Smitten with Reading My Review: What a sweet, fun little Christmas novella. I loved every moment of reading it! Fielding is a lot awkward. At 19, he's in the Physics grad program and moving away from home for the first time. He's brilliant mentally, but socially he needs some help. Mick is just the opposite. He's spent the last two years of college partying hard as part of the football team and getting laid. But now he wants to refocus on his school which is going to kick his butt if he doesn't buckle down this semester. Fielding is the perfect roommate for that. They quickly become friends and Mick quickly takes Fielding under his wing to teach him all that he's missed out on life so far. When Fielding hears how good of a kisser Mick supposedly is, he thinks that Mick should step up and help him here too. Fielding doesn't understand why it's such a big deal. For Mick, it's a big deal because it stirs up feelings about Fielding that he just isn't comfortable confronting yet. Besides, they're friends and he sure doesn't want to screw that up by being Fielding's first kiss...something that should mean something...at least for the memories. Like I said, this book is fun. Fielding is the ultimate nerd, especially at first, but Mick has been helping him out, working him out and suddenly Fielding is getting a lot hotter. These guys are friends and that's an unlikely thing at first since they have so little in common, but they bond pretty quickly. Then when things step up, they get hot pretty quickly. I liked how the heat factor immediately exploded when the two kissed. It wasn't a slow build-up...it was spontaneous combustion. It was a good book. Perfect for the holidays because it was short and sweet and romantic and filled with little mistletoe moments...which provide just the perfect excuse. See all 148 customer reviews...
