GIAPREZA Now Approved GIAPREZA (angiotensin II) Injection for Intravenous Infusion is indicated to increase blood pressure in adults with septic or other distributive shock "We appreciate FDA's rapid review and approval of GIAPREZA and are especially grateful to the patients, families and dedicated critical care teams who made the development of GIAPREZA possible," said George F. Tidmarsh, M.D., Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of La Jolla. "We look forward to bringing this new treatment option to the many critically ill patients suffering from septic or other distributive shock." GIAPREZA is classified as a new chemical entity exclusivity (NCE) with 5 years of market exclusivity "Shock, the inability to maintain blood flow to vital tissues, can result in organ failure and death," said Norman Stockbridge, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Renal Products in the FDA s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. "There is a need for treatment options for critically ill hypotensive patients who do not adequately respond to available therapies." 2
