Emtinal Intelligence/ Emtinal and Scial Intelligence Assessments Students are required t engage in a frmal EI evaluatin using the MSCEIT. If desired, students are als allwed t al be evaluated by the ESCI. MSCEIT (Mayer-Salvey-Carus Emtinal Intelligence Test) ESCI (Emtinal Scial Cmpetency Inventry) The MSCEIT is an EI ability test that is taken in ne sitting nline. The ESCI is an nline cmpetency test that invlves tw stages. First the student takes the nline assessment. Next selected wrkplace representatives engage in a 360 evaluatin. The ESCI scres invlve nt nly the student s self rating but als the evaluatin by persnnel at their wrkplace. Chsing the ESCI requires students t chse and engage at least 2 c-wrkers and/r supervisrs in the evaluatin prcess. Sectin II: EI Mdels and Assessments: Using knwledge f the EI assessments regularly used in the wrkplace, students discuss the differences between the assessments and the theretical mdels that supprt the assessments. 3

#2 EI Research Briefing (150 pints due week 7) Using a list f recmmended research articles n a variety f aspects f EI thery and practice as well as lcating research articles nline thrugh the Rutgers Library system, students chse 2 research articles t discuss: tpic being investigated, results f the research, and the ptential fr use f findings in the wrkplace. #3 Awareness and Management f Emtins Exercises (115 pints due week 10) Sectin I: Self-Awareness: students t keep a diary fr a minimum f 5 days and reflect n thughts/behavirs assciated with emtins experienced during diary keeping perid. Students identify and discuss their knwledge f key cncepts; present strategies f imprtance as strategies are assciated with student s develpmental needs. #4 Readiness fr Change and EI Plan (150 pints due week 13) Sectin I: Self Directed Learning Readiness and Change Students prvide written respnses t 4 f the 9 questins psed within the apprpriate sectin f the chapter titled Hw and Why Individuals are able t Develp Emtinal Intelligence. (Challenges and Paths t Yur Readiness t Change); discuss understanding f key cncepts presented in dcument. Sectin II: Plan fr Change Reflecting n abilities and cmpetencies identified thrugh the assessment prcess (Writing Assignment #1: EI Assessment Reflectin) and material discussed thrughut the semester, students develp and substantiate a basic plan fr: develping/strengthening needed EI skills/cmpetencies; leveraging high quality skills/cmpetencies that already exist. The Curse Prject requires the cmpletin f the Meyer-Salvey-Carus Emtinal Intelligence Test (MSCEIT. ) must be cmpeted between established pen perid dates. When a student neglects t cmplete the MSCEIT assessment, he/she cannt cmplete Writing Assignment 1 and cmpnents f Writing Assignment 4. If a student desn t take the MSCEIT, he/she will earn n pints in areas where writing assignments required MSCEIT test results. Late Submissin Plicy Curse Prject and Writing Assignments Writing assignments are accepted up t 24 hurs (12:01 am t 11:59 pm Wednesdays) frm the due date fr a deductin f 10% f the pints attributed t the assignment.
