WHY SUPPORT REACH REACH provides much more than a safe, affordable place to live - we help residents grow personally and professionally. As a nonprofit we rely on individuals, corporations, and foundations to support our housing and programs that enrich communities. Our Vision is to build communities where all people live in quality, affordable, sustainable homes empowered to achieve goals, and enjoying a strong sense of community. REACH was founded in 1982 by a group of friends and neighbors in response to the deteriorating housing conditions in Southeast Portland. Today, REACH Community Development owns and manages over 2,100 units of affordable housing across the Portland metropolitan region and SW Washington. REACH is also a national leader in building innovative affordable housing. We are leading the nation in successfully making Passive House construction standards a more affordable (and greener!) building option for affordable multifamily. Among many awards for our innovation, REACH has received the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award, the Oregon Housing and Community Services Award for Excellence for our Resident Services Programs, Portland Business Journal s Better Bricks Sustainable Project of the Year award, and the Portland Monthly s Light a Fire Award for our Community Builders Program. Your support goes well beyond building housing, allowing us to try new and innovative approaches and programs to empower our residents. We provide a variety of services to our residents that help stabilize and support housing success. We provide economic empowerment programs such as career support, access to emergency food and clothing, and financial education for both adults and youth living in our housing. We also provide our most vulnerable residents integrative, in-building access to healthcare which decreases visits to the emergency room and making navigating the healthcare system easier and more accessible. At REACH, we are growing, innovating, and providing a critical service to our community. Thank you for being a partner in building a better, more inclusive community.
