Product safety summary Pseudoionone 1. General Statement This Product Safety Summary document is a high-level summary intended to provide workers, downstream customers, the general public and other interested parties with an overview of the product safety information on this chemical substance. This document is not intended to replace the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or extended Safety Data Sheet (esds) which are legal requirements for worker safety. Classification of the substance is based on European GHS Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. Data provided in chapters 4, 5, 6, and 9 refer to the pure substance. These data are not directly applicable to mixtures. For example consumer products, which contain the substance in a highly diluted form. The pure substance is manufactured and handled in an industrial setting. The pure substance is not sold directly to the general public. Therefore, exposure to the pure substance is restricted to industrial workers. For safe use these workers should follow the recommended safety measures in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). The outcome of the safety assessment for this substance, based on typical concentrations in selected consumer products, does not indicate a risk either to human health of consumers or to the environment. Uses of the substance are listed in chapter 3. 2. Chemical identity EC-No. 205-457-1 EC Name 6,10-dimethylundeca-3,5,9-trien-2-one CAS-No. 141-10-6 IUPAC Name 6,10-trimethylundeca-3,5,9-trien-2-one Molecular formula C13-H20-O Molecular weight 192,3 g/mol Structural formula: 3. Use of the Substance/Mixture Exposure assessments cover the following uses: Product category: Used as chemical intermediate Article category: none Page 1 of 8

Specific target organ toxicity - STOT - repeated exposure NOAEL (Oral, rat) : 50 mg/kg bw/d Subacute toxicity study (28 days) (OECD Test Guideline 407) The substance or mixture is not classified as specific target organ toxicant, repeated exposure. Genotoxicity in vitro Genotoxicity in vivo Carcinogenicity Reproductive toxicity Teratogenicity Further information not mutagenic (Ames test) No indication for adverse effects on fertility known. NOAEL: 360 mg/kg bw/d (rat, Oral, OECD Test Guideline 415) not teratogenic not embryotoxic NOAEL: 360 mg/kg bw/d (rat, Oral, OECD Test Guideline 415) May cause irritation of respiratory tract. Classification of the pure substance is based on European GHS Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 with respect to data above: Causes skin irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. 6. Environmental Effects Effect Assessment Acute aquatic toxicity Chronic aquatic toxicity Toxic to aquatic life. Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Fate and behaviour in the environment Biodegradation Readily biodegradable. Bioaccumulative potential PBT and vpvb assessment Classification of the pure substance is based on European GHS Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 with respect to data above: Page 3 of 8

Toxic to aquatic life. Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. 7. Exposure Consumers: The pure substance is not sold directly to the general public. The substance is used as a chemical intermediate and is therefore not present in consumer products Workers: This refers to potential exposure to the substance in a manufacturing facility or industrial workplace. Generally, exposure of personnel to the substance is anticipated to be controlled and does not present a risk to human health due to technical precautions as well as recommended risk management measures at industrial workplaces. Environment: The amount of the substance released into the environment is controlled and does not pose a risk to the environment when handled in industrial workplaces, if appropriate risk management measures are in place. There is no risk that the substance is released into the environment by the use of consumer products. The substance is used as a chemical intermediate exclusively and is therefore not present in consumer products. 8. Risk Management Recommendations Information given in this chapter corresponds to information in sections 4-8 of the SDS/MSDS of the pure substance. The SDS/MSDS is the relevant document for industrial workers which come into contact with the pure substance at industrial sites. Therefore, this information is only relevant for industrial workers. Exposure controls/personal protection Respiratory protection Hand protection Eye protection Skin and body protection Hygiene measures In case of mist, spray or aerosol exposure wear suitable personal respiratory protection and protective suit. In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Glove material: for example nitrile rubber butyl-rubber Neoprene gloves Consider the hazard characteristics of this product and any special workplace conditions when selecting the appropriate type of protective gloves. Safety glasses with side-shields Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end Page 4 of 8

of workday. First aid measures General advice Inhalation Skin contact Eye contact Ingestion Move out of dangerous area. Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of dust or fumes from overheating or combustion. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
