Further information: Inhalation overexposure to ethanol vapors can cause headache, nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. Studies in laboratory animals involving prolonged and repeated inhalation exposures to ethanol resulted in liver damage. Prolonged and repeated oral dosing of laboratory animals has caused mutagenic and developmental toxicity. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has reported ethanol to be carcinogenic (based on chronic ingestion of alcoholic beverages). Repeated overexposures to triethanolamine (ethanol, 2,2`,2``-nitrilotris) can cause liver and kidney damage. Inhalation overexposure to hexylene glycol vapors may cause central nervous system depression (giddiness, headache, nausea and dizziness). 12.
