Using a pre-recorded video of a live patient, Dr Murray will take delegates through every aspect of the diagnosis and management of a patient with periodontal disease. This series will give delegates many practical solutions to their day-to-day treatment of periodontal disease, and help them understand when to refer. Latest News from Vermilion / Vermilion welcomes new team members / Dr Louise O Dowd, BDS (Dund 2002) MFDS RCS Ed MSc FDS (Rest Dent) RCS Ed, has joined Vermilion s periodontal team, working alongside Dr Madeleine Murray. Former Oral Medicine Consultant Dr Fiona Crawford, BDS (Edin 1979) DDS FDS RCPS (Glasg) Dip CBT, has joined our clinical team as a cognitive behavioural therapist. Dr Crawford will support patients who may benefit from CBT, a talking therapy that can help patients change the way they think and behave. Borders to break ground in the late autumn / Vermilion will be opening a branch in the Borders town of Kelso in early 2018. We are very excited about bringing a brand new specialist referral practice to the Borders and this will save many patients much stress and time travelling into Edinburgh. The clinic will operate on a referral-only basis inviting complex cases from local general dental practitioners for oral surgery, endodontics, anti-snoring devices, hygiene and dental implants. Vermilion publishes its first peer reviewed paper in the BDJ Open / We conducted a pilot study on peri-implant health, clinical outcome and patient-centred outcomes of implant-supported over-dentures in the mandible and the maxilla in collaboration with the University of Gent, Belgium. This paper has been published in the British Dental Journal Open and is available to all our referring colleagues to view. Vermilion receives ethics approval for study / Following on from our pilot study, we have received approval from the South East Scotland Research and Ethics Committee to conduct a five-year study at the clinic on Rough v s Hybrid-surface implants for maxillary Allon-4 over-dentures: clinical, patient and cost outcomes. This work is part of our commitment to monitoring our patient safety and quality improvement processes and we have started recruiting patients to participate in this study.
