Jeans for genes day FRIDAY 22 september A celebration of jeans in aid of a serious cause

We all HAVE 25,000 genes just one fault on one of those genes can cause a child to be blind, confined to a wheelchair or living a life IN chronic pain.

1 in 25 children is born with a genetic disorder 500,000 children in the UK are living with the challenges of a genetic disorder 6,000 different genetic disorders have been identified to date

*PRESS RELEASE* JEANS FOR GENES DAY FRIDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2017 More than half a million children and adults in the UK live with the daily challenges of a genetic disorder. Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under. Jeans for Genes raises money for Genetic Disorders UK and aims to change the world for children with life-altering genetic disorders. This year s Jeans for Genes Day takes place on Friday 22 September and funds raised go to providing vital care and support for children living with life-altering genetic disorders. The day invites people to wear their jeans to work or school in return for a donation which will help change the lives of children across the UK. In 2016, 21 genetic disorder charities benefited from the funds raised on Jeans for Genes Day. Sign up to receive a free fundraising kit at jeansforgenes.org or call 0800 980 4800. -Ends- Notes to editors Jeans for Genes Day 2017 takes place on Friday 22 September. Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK, the charity that aims to transform the lives of children with life-altering genetic disorders. Funds raised will go to the vital care and support they urgently need. 1 in 25 children in the UK are born with a genetic disorder - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. There are more than 6,000 genetic disorders. www.jeansforgenes.org
