GENERAL INF INTENDED AUDIENCE This course is intended for otolaryngologists and residents in training with an eclectic experience in temporal bone anatomy, middle ear anatomy, chronic ear disease and management of the middle ear and applied surgical techniques. COURSE OVERVIEW This course provides hands-on experience of endoscopic techniques to the middle ear, as well as state of the art endoscopic otologic evaluation, diagnosis and surgical management of middle ear pathology. Comprised of lecture and hands-on laboratory dissections of the temporal bone. After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to: 1. Describe and discuss basic and applied anatomy of the middle ear appropriate otologic evaluation and diagnosis using the endoscope appropriate surgical management of chronic ear disease and ventilation pathways 2. Practice new evidence-based surgical techniques in the dissection laboratory Topics to be presented Principles of endoscopic ear surgery History of endoscopic ear surgery Endoscopic anatomy of the middle ear Endoscopic anatomy for practical temporal bone dissection Conventional approaches to chronic ear disease Endoscopic chronic ear disease management: tympanoplasty, ossicular reconstruction and management of cholesteatoma Endoscopic use for intraoperative surveillance of recurrence Robotic and endoscopic technology in cochlear implantation Stapes surgery and endoscopic ear surgery Endoscopic ear surgery in superior canal dehiscence surgery Future technology on endoscopic ear surgery Ventilation pathways of the middle ear: functional implications Other educational opportunities Dissection lab training Viewing of live surgery via Skype with international guest faculty REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT The course registration fees are as follows: M.D.s: $950 or $450 (lecture-only) Residents and Fellows: $750 or $350 (lecture-only) Other health care professionals: $950 or $450 (lecture-only) The course fee includes all sessions, cadaveric material, CME credit, materials and all food functions.
