SMWG CLASSIFICATIONS The SMWG consists of five classifications. Members consist of companies potentially responsible for sediment remediation. Associate Members consist of industry and trade associations, research organizations and other non-profit or public entities, with an interest in contaminated sediment. Ports consist of port authorities and similar entities. Sponsors include environmental consultants, engineering firms, contractors, service providers and vendors which support the Members efforts to address complex and costly contaminated sediment issues. Affiliates consists of academicians and some governmental associations, such as the ITRC. Our Member category presently consists of 28 individual companies and we presently have 15 Associate Members. We also currently have over 60 Sponsors and 7 Affiliates. Attached is a depiction of the logos of our current Members and Sponsors. ROLE OF THE SMWG The Mission Statement and Objectives of the SMWG are as follows: To advance scientifically sound approaches to improve sediment risk assessment, collect and share information to enhance and evaluate remedial technologies and alternatives, and promote risk-based and cost-effective sediment management decisions The SMWG has been very successful in carrying out its initiatives, which have been designed to heighten awareness among Federal and state policymakers and regulators of the need for incorporation of sound science and risk-based decision-making principles in development of sediment management strategies. 20678899.1 2290 First National Building 660 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226-3506 www.smwg.org

SEDIMENT MANAGEMENT WORK GROUP August 2017 Three main categories of SMWG initiatives/activities are: (1) Policy/Guidance/Tools; (2) Education/Outreach; and (3) Other Activities. The SMWG s Policy/Guidance/Tools initiatives/activities include commenting on draft guidance, policies, and decisions; participating in workshops such as the Background Workshop, 4Rs of Environmental Dredging and SETAC s Passive Sampling Workshop; and conducting peer reviews. As part of the SMWG s Education/Outreach initiatives/activities, the SMWG has participated in planning and has co-sponsored several multi-day national workshops/conferences with the U.S. EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; co-sponsored the well-attended Sediment Remediation Training Course: How Do You Select And Design Options? ; participated on the Steering Committee for the 4 th thru 8 th International Remediation of Contaminated Sediment Conferences sponsored by Battelle; and participated in various technical conferences. Other SMWG activities include Sponsor Forums, Site Tours, Contaminated Sediment Symposiums, and Technology Transfer Conferences. MEETINGS The SMWG hosts an annual Sponsor Forum. This is a technical session that provides an excellent opportunity for our Sponsors to showcase their expertise and to provide valuable information about their respective activities and knowledge of critical sediment management issues to the SMWG Members. The SMWG Members benefit from these presentations and this technology exchange. Additionally, the SMWG hosts a reception for Members and Sponsors as part of the annual Sponsor Forum, which provides additional opportunities to exchange ideas and highlight expertise on sediment management issues. From time to time, the SMWG also sponsors Symposia, Technology Transfer Exchanges, Workshops and large national conferences in conjunction with our Sponsors. For example, in November 2014, the SMWG hosted a Sediment Symposium in Washington, D.C. There were presentations, discussions with the SMWG Members, Sponsors and Affiliates as well as representatives from EPA HQ and the Army Corps. Attendees also enjoyed a Potomac Riverboat cruise hosted by several SMWG Sponsors. For 2016, the SMWG conducted on a Spring Symposium Meeting at the Army Corps Environmental Research and Development Center in Vicksburg MS on May 25 th 26 th and a Fall Sponsor Forum in November in Washington, D.C. For 2017, we actively participated in the 9 th International Sediments Conference and hosted a reception for our Members, Sponsors and Affiliates. We will conduct a Sponsor Forum in Charleston, South Carolina on September 27 th 28 th of this year. Please note that although Sponsors are welcome to participate in designated special sessions or other functions, Sponsors do not participate in the business meetings of the SMWG. For a complete overview of the SMWG and its activities, Members, and current Sponsors please feel free to visit our web page at www.smwg.org. 20678899.1

SEDIMENT MANAGEMENT WORK GROUP August 2017 BECOMING A SPONSOR OF SMWG We elected to create this category of affiliation in recognition that many of you in the consulting/engineering/contracting universe share our objectives and may want to evidence your support through active sponsorship. In addition, our Members often rely on your technical expertise at many sediment sites and we believe that sponsorship may open up new opportunities for collaboration in driving effective sediment management programs. The SMWG believes that sponsorship is an excellent vehicle for exchange of technology and ideas on critical sediment management issues and policies. In return for your sponsorship, we will grant you the right to use our logo in your promotional literature and to acknowledge that you are a Sponsor of the SMWG. SMWG Sponsors also will have unique opportunities to interact with the SMWG Membership which will include the opportunity to participate in technical sessions and to exclusively promote their capabilities at our annual Sponsor Forums and at SMWG sponsored workshops. Sponsors also will receive electronic copies of the Sediment Alerts sent to the Members with up-to-the-minute news of relevant new developments in the sediment management arena. At other functions where the SMWG will have a sizable number of Members present, we will provide opportunities for our Sponsors to meet directly and exclusively with our Members. For example, at the Joint Conferences co-sponsored by the SWMG and/or U.S. EPA and the Army Corps in 2002, 2004, 2008, and 2010, and at the bi-annual Battelle International Conferences on Contaminated Sediments, the SMWG hosted a reception for our Members and Sponsors and Affiliates. The Sponsorship Fee for 2017 is $5,000. A registration form is enclosed. Your Sponsorship check should be made payable to the Sediment Management Work Group. We hope that you will consider becoming a SMWG Sponsor. We believe that teaming up with the SMWG as a Sponsor will provide numerous mutually beneficial opportunities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail. Thank you for your interest. Very truly yours, Steven C. Nadeau Attachments Steven C.
