MOBILE MEDICARE UNIT Kaveri Amma is our MMU beneficiaries receiving treatment since last four years through Arjunpura MMU point. She was suffering from Hypertension and Arthritis. Prior to MMU treatment she was undergoing treatment from M.Y. Hospital, Indore and for treatment she had to spend a minimum of thirty five rupees per week (ten rupees for conveyance five rupees for registration and twenty rupees for medicine) At times due to long distance she was unable to visit hospital for treatment. At the time of door campaign she came to know about MMU van. She comes from a very poor family. Her husband was helper in kirana shop; and died eleven years back. Both of them were staying together and alone as her husband is very short tempered. After her husband s death she started staying with her son in barha bhai s slum. Kaveri amma s son is working in a mobile shop. While staying with her son and daughter in law and their two sons s she was expected to take care of their children as her daughter in law had to do all domestic work. As she was not keeping well she was unable to walk properly and support her daughter in law in household works. After regular treatment at our MMU site now there is a vast improvement in her health and she is able to support her daughter in law in house hold work and also takes care of her grandsons. After getting mother in law s support her daughter in law has taken up cooking in the nearby colony residents. Today Kaveri Amma confidence has grown up and she told the APO that if anyone wants she can take care of their children for two to three hours. She is thinking of starting crèche for two children and look forward to increase number of children s. She says that now I am more fit, and want to support my family. ELDERS HELPLINE BHOPAL NUMBER: - 1800 233 1253 Due to shift of Office to new premise and frequent leaving of Helpline Counsellor Elder s HELPLINE performance has fallen down drastically in Bhopal. However after joining of Ms. Yamini Vishwakarma (Counsellor) this service has started picking up momentum and now we have started receiving calls for various services. Some of the calls that we have received are from Other State. It would be important to share that Bhopal Elder s HELPLINE can access from any corner of India. We are also in the process of creating awareness among needy and vulnerable older people of the society to access this number and avail guidance and support as per their need. It is expected that within very short period of time again it will reach to its old performance status. I would also like to share with you that Bhopal Elder s HELPLINE was instrumental in providing job placement for few older people who had approached us and said that they seek job. Though the number is few but our efforts are to provide all round support as per the request and need.

HELPAGE IN MEDIA There are several activities lined up during the current financial year which we will share with you through this Newsletter. I hope you would have enjoyed reading this edition of Newsletter. We all need to share and write more success stories which are the real essence of our success on various initiatives. Thanks. S. K.
