The next session, Speaking into the Silence: Breaking the Stigma of Mental Illness in Faith Communities, will be led by Angela Whitenhill, Mental Health Initiative Manager, National Benevolent Association, St. Louis, MO. The focus of this presentation will be on the societal shame, stigma, and lack of awareness that keeps faith communities from being a welcoming place for those living with mental illness. His session, Shop Local: Facing the Mental Health Challenges and Building Innovative Local Solutions, will describe evidence-based practices such as Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT team) and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment programs that have a proven track record in the local community.
