Needs Progress in the basic and clinical sciences, therapeutics, technology, and surgery is leading to increased understanding and improved diagnosis and management of eye disorders. The purpose of this course is to provide the latest evidence-based clinical information in the field of ophthalmology to the busy practitioner. Target Audience This course is designed for the practicing ophthalmologist and ophthalmologists in training. Objectives At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to: Appropriately match the type of IOL to the patient s needs Determine when and what dose of mitomycin-c should be used in performing surface ablation Interpret data from new devices that image the optic nerve and nerve fiber layer Select which patients might be candidates for anti-vegf therapy Determine what diagnostic laboratory tests should be ordered and what treatments should be instituted for the treatment of microbial keratitis Diagnose and evaluate patients with NA-AION Recommend appropriate therapies for the treatment of convergence insufficiency Educational Methods Lectures, Case Presentations, Panel Discussions, Syllabus, Question and Answer Sessions. Evaluation Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias. Accreditation/Credit Designation Baylor College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Baylor College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
