Why a Clinical Psychologist? Nurses, occupational therapists, counsellors and others may have a role in the assessment and management of behavioural, emotional and cognitive concerns after stroke. However no other profession has undergone the extensive training that makes CPs the specialist in these areas, allowing them to manage these issues comprehensively, deal with complex cases and at the same time be able to contribute at an advanced level to audit, research, team development and training.
